The silence is because they don’t really know what they’re doing, so they don’t know what to say. They knew Wilcox would be going but did nothing to find a replacement for nearly a year. They should have already had contingency plans for Wilcox going but obviously they didn’t. In addition, we won’t have the success of the likes of Bournemouth because we’re not prepared to pay 25 to 30 million on players, something Bournemouth did first year back in the Prem, so we don’t have the ambition, squad overloaded with average players, no space for youth to come through and a lack of quality to compete at the top as a result.
We just have to hope Spors knows what he’s doing and we start to recruit strong pacy skilful players rather than joggers and snowflakes, Fernandes aside.. |

I agree, but the solution is to show proper passion and desire, which was missing from his performance. As I said yesterday, he didn’t sprint once and this is the sort of thing which bugs the fans, especially when you look at our position. It’s appalling to boo a player and it would have been avoided if Will had sprinted a few times to win the ball or shackle an opponent, but he jogged round for an hour, this has nothing to do with leadership, team mates or tactics.
KWP, Sulemana, Fernandes any Aribo were the only players to sprint on Saturday and that is more worrying than fans booing, fans who have had enough of a lack of desire on the pitch. |

Firstly, Lallana was injured, as usual, this is why he hardly plays because he has about 10/15 mins in him per game. To attack Juric over Lallana is ridiculous.
The cheering off of Smallbone was more aimed at him and it is a poor thing to do to him. Equally poor was Smallbone’s effort and hunger. He did not sprint once during his stint, I think that’s why he was cheered off. He had a chance to start and just jogged round the park again. It’s sad to see but he’s nowhere near the player we hoped he would be and it’s mainly the mentality.
With SR not bringing in any forwards, yet let 3 go and without two of our main centre backs, it’s a nightmare for Juric to try to pick the bones out of it all. I think he deserves the chance to build his own team. This site went nuts about knee jerk reactions after Ralph had declined and it was obvious he needed to go yet you are again hounding someone out who has inherited a car crash and is trying to work with what he has. I agree that Les should have started Saturday and I also think we have missed the leadership of Stephens. What he lacks in some ways, he makes up for in others like organisation and how he throws himself in front of shots whereas your Bednarek tends to turn away. He was our captain and at fault for the first 2 goals. Especially the second where him running out with the ball was what opened the gap in the defence and then he played a terrible pass straight to their playmaker. Without that we may have got something, so you can’t keep blaming the manager! SR have left him with the worst situation any manager has ever had in this league and some of the senior players are letting the team down. Clearly Downes is the problem, not Juric, so I completely disagree with you, we shouldn’t be looking to change the manager AGAIN, we should back him to bring in the players who can play his style and the league we are in is irrelevant. It’s football, a simple game complicated by idiots. |

Who should play instead of Sulemana, Nick? He’s carried out biggest threat and the end product has been there in the past at times, Liverpool and Leeds at home when he had a little confidence and belief in him. RM treated him appallingly because of the full, ineffective game plan of RM.
I agree that some substitutions have cost us but that’s because of the lack of quality and hunger in those replacements.. can’t keep blaming the manager, he’s only been here 5 mins, stepped into a shit show and he’s trying his best to change the mentality and tactics into something the opposite of the last bloke. It takes time and a couple or 3 windows to change up and the board gave him little in January to help.
I like the guy in many ways, maybe he’s not for us but I much prefer him and his style over RM.
Downes needs to grow a pair and grow up, that isn’t helping and he’s being paid how many thousands per week? If he’s refusing to play he should be sued. I’m with Juric on this one. |

But I agree, there was no point in Armstrong staying here for the rest of the season if as you say he’s not good enough for this level. If he’s one of the best in level 2 then it makes sense for him to be playing at that level. I don’t see the confusion, you have pointed out the obvious in your article..
The club is a shambles but at the end of the day, Juric is the manager and the players get paid a lot of money. I’m not really too much of a fan of players not buying into this or that.. just do as your ducking told and get on with the job showing passion, hunger, desire and all that in the process, stop throwing your toys out and behaving like anchors. Spill blood for the badge and wear the shirt with pride until told otherwise. Whatever Downes has done it must have been less than ideal. Players shouldn’t sign contracts if they’re gonna behave like that. It’s pathetic.
Nothing will change for the good until we get new owners as this lot are clueless. I don’t see why you’re placing blame on Juric, that’s stupid considering what he’s walked into.. There’s definitely bits about him that I like and yes he’s made some strange decisions but he’s been here for 7 games. It will take 3 months at least to change the mentality and get the players as fit as they need to be. Maybe he’s not the man but to judge this now is madness. |

I disagree with your sentiment that he is proven at this level unless you mean he’s proven that he’s not good enough for this level. That isn’t to say that he shouldn’t be praised for all he has done for the club but your angle is not progressive.
Will he score goals this season to help us improve? No
Will he score goals at this level in 2 years if we bounce back again? No
So what’s the point in keeping a player who’s only useful once year out of every 2? There isn’t one.
Good luck to Arma but he will be in League 1 in a couple of years as the game moves on.
My only issue is the lack of replacement for him, Diaz and Cornet. We should have brought in at least one replacement but our board are like a chocolate fire guard.. |

We like a cheap gamble.. I don’t really care too much about this signing as it’s not been made to help us out now. Juric said he told the board what he needs and it’s up to them. They have clearly not delivered, yet again. Before people start jumping on the ‘nobody wants to come to us’ given our position, well then SR should have thought of this when it was clear after the Bournemouth game that Martin didn’t have a clue yet they waited another 8 games or whatever. Too late, just like the last time we were in the Prem. The cluelessness continues.. buying someone who isn’t ready, isn’t getting game time and another they might make a million or 2 out of with loans, a business move, not a football one. |

Agreed our centre backs are too similar and Bednarek should be the leader by now but he isn’t and he looked like he was out of his depth against Delap. If we get a genuine 8 million offer for him we must take it. Id rather see Wood in there or ABK if he’s fit.
Perhaps our luck has finally changed with a couple of keeper mistakes. A red card for Bournemouth next game and another win v Brighton gives us hope but I can’t see this happening given the transfers we are making in and out, if the media are to be believed..

Amo has deserved a chance but hasn’t been given one and Archer is our best finisher but doesn’t see grass.
I lost hope a long time ago under this lot, as soon as we lost against Wham and Palace. We need a proper striker still if Archer is surplus and we need a holding midfielder as well as a strong, quick CB. This has been obvious for a while.

Why don’t we sell Archer, Onuachu and Archer and go into the rest of the season with no forwards apart from Armstrong? With Dibling off too, if you want to believe all these story’s, we will end up with the same 6 points we had ages ago and be the worst ever side in the Prem.

As for memories, the Branfoot 2-1 with the magic le god brace the 2 x 4-0 in consecutive seasons with Koeman? and the 3-3 last game of the season when Alan Blayney won save of the season under Sturrock, that was an awesome game. I remember a game at the Dell when they had too many fans so some had to go in the Saints section of the Archers with 2 lines of stewards between them but this didn’t stop them from trying T throw punches at us over the top of the stewards.. it was quite comedic. |

Totally disagree. If we send him out again we won’t ever see him in a Saints shirt again. Not only would it be good for him to experience premier league football, it’s character building when the going is tough and he might actually dominate a game or 2 in the middle and help us get more points.
