Match Thread -- Blackpool v QPR on 16:53 - Dec 14 by Cornish_oooRRRR | I'm really confused now. Not that it matters at all but did we have the wind with us or against us in the 1st half? |
The wind was WITH us in the first half and AGAINST us in the second. Maybe having to play into the wind in the second half meant we consciously kept it on the ground more and as a result played better.
Match Thread -- Blackpool v QPR on 16:56 - Dec 14 with 1375 views | CanadaRanger | Nice result for us. I had us down for a 2-1 win. Note to self. Show more faith in Mr. Green. Best goalie in the division right now.

Makes sense. Wind against helps passing teams which bar a couple of occasions we have most definitely been so far this season

Burnley. Leicester, Forest and Blackpool all dropped points to us. Only Leeds improved their position against u (improved their goal difference by 1). We were up against a team that was in the top 6 at the start of the game, so winning away to them, is a better than Derby's result (on paper) against a bottom 5 team. Leeds also picked up their points against a bottom 5 team. Of course we seem to do worse against lowly opposition. But the point is, at the start of the day our fixture looked significantly harder than either Derby or Leeds. All round, bloody good result for the superhoops.

Match Thread -- Blackpool v QPR on 16:50 - Dec 14 by DylanP | If this scores holds up, we'll have more than 40 points. Safe from relegations. Phew!!! |
40 points is usually the safety point in the PL, in the Football League it's usually 50 so 8 more points and we're safe!

Yeah, I think that's their 6th win on the trot. McClaren has lost only 1 game.... at Loftus Road.

Match Thread -- Blackpool v QPR on 16:33 - Dec 14 by warwickhoop | Don't think we should completely discount the weather. Had the wind in our faces 1st half and Pool dominated, So far different story, wind behind us and all of a sudden 60% possession and two goals. It was a dire 1st half but we may have been a little harsh,,, |
Absolutely spot on about the wind - it looked like a huge benefit to Pool in the first half and us in the second.

Match Thread -- Blackpool v QPR on 17:19 - Dec 14 with 1092 views | Nov77 | Blackpool played better 2nd half than we did 1st (which wasn't hard). The big difference is 2nd half we closed down all over the pitch and started winning the ball.

For me seeing Onouha get it on the deck and look short rather than going long gave me hope, he also looked inside so that he got to move forward into the mid. Barton first half seemed to think he should pick the ball up in front of the back four and go long. It made for a messy first half and gave Blackpool the ball, we never got to the 50/50's, but as soon as we got it on the deck Carroll, Kranjcar and Barton got involved pushing Phillips forward onto the full back, simpson and akotto began to get forward. ....BBC gave us 57% possession so that must none first half and all of it second....Great Austin goal.....Great Green performance with distribution and a steady character!!

No they don't. Stevie Wonder's guide dog could have told you how bad we were in that first half. Are people supposed to stay silent for fear of perhaps not reflecting the final result? I think I could virtually guarantee you that the vast majority of 'just backs' will agree that the first half was a fcuking shambles. But you just want to be glib about it. Ok then.

Agreed. Comments int he first half reflect the performance in the first half. It was awful at that point. So that is how you are going to react. Result reflect increase in performance in the second half and just a smidge of luck (their shooting helped and a wicked deflection helped as well). But that is what champions do -- stay in it when you aren't playing well, keep clean sheets, win ugly and so on....

Agree with most of the comments Niko and the Chief did a very good job for us. Niko very handy with the ball and some excellent passing giving our game more composer and style. The Chief steaming into midfield also saw us coming on top of that game. Top of the League ! Come on you Rrrrss
