I've never heard of that rule and seems a bit silly.

Interesting to see the Pats approach Sunday. Had a lot of success throwing v Denver in the regular season but that was with Gronk. Chris Harris injury may tempt a more open game plan. May depend on the receiving core available. The only WR's definitely going to play are Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Austin Collie. Effectively three slot receivers (although Edelman can do far more than that and has) No word on Dobson, Thompkins picked up a concussion but has been a non-factor in the second half of the season anyway. At this stage Matthew Slater may end up being the 4th WR on the depth chart. He's a special teams star but I can't remember a pass thrown his way all season.

This game is on the Pats secondary. It can be very good when healthy and first time in months it is. Going to need to pick off Manning a few times I think.

I was fairly confident before the news of Chris Harris' ACL. I'm a bit worried now. Jammer is poor. Up until Harris was injured our defense had their game of the season. Bailey has been playing in the slot so it looks like Jammer or Webster will be on the outside and they've both been attacked by opposing QB's this season.
Our run D has been good all year but Blount is playing out of his skin over the past month. Is it just me or does he seem a couple of steps faster and explosive than he was at Tampa?
We ran all over the Pats earlier on in the season and I think we'll stick with a similar gameplan and maybe pick up some big plays off play action.

The NFL couldn't have picked a better 2 games for the Championship games. I'm nervous just thinking about the Broncos game.

Blount has been playing excellently recently but he's not special. If Denver win in the trenches they'll contain him relatively easily. He's not an upper echelon running back like Charles, McCoy or AP who'll regularly make plays out of nothing.

Broncos running game is OK and if the regular season game was anything to go by they'll be able to establish a solid running game. Once that happens I can't see them stopping Peyton Manning spreading the ball around.

Broncos to win this one. Their streaky defense and Tom Brady will make it close but I think they win comfortably in the end.

I was calling for Blount to be cut earlier in the year. He was too slow, hitting the line had a slug like pace, and was only having an impact when defenses tired in he 4th quarter. Ridley's fumbles got him more carries and he's been incredible. His form allows Ridley to be the second back, which also has it's plus side as he's the more talented runner. It's a two headed monster.

Broncos had so many rushing yards in November because BB allowed it. He played nearly all nickel and dime packages and dared Peyton to run it. He had under 200 yards passing when he did throw and one interception. I think he gambled on the rush yards not being enough. Weather he does the same here, who knows.

Mike Adams saying Julian Edelman only has 'one speed'. What is it with NFL players saying silly things in the build up to big games.

Very interesting article about the ten best rivalries in the NFL.

Which conference has every one of its teams in at least one "best rivalry"? And two of its teams is in two different "best rivalries"?

p.s. all of the above rivalries are between "smashmouth" teams [plus Ravens v. Steelers, which also made the top ten].

p.p.s. I agree with the author and would have been disappointed if any of these rivalries had not made the list!

Have a look:

One of my favourite pasttimes when I used to get a bit of freetime was trawling youtube for the NFL films top ten series, they did a good one on rivalries.

Surprised not to see Bears v Packers in there, surely a more relevant rivalry than 49'ers v Cowboys.

As a Fins fan, I don't like the Jets but my true disgust lies with the Pats

49ers Hawks number one? Maybe in terms of quality of teams now, and a bunch players who love talking smack to each other. But historically? No way. But I have to admit I’m looking forward to them having it out Sunday. Blood bath.

Indeed and I wouldn't say Colts-Pats is the rivalry, the essence of the rivalry is Brady-Manning, which has now transpired into Broncos-Pats

Agreed. As a Pats fan, I have never really hated the Colts. They were the major rival in the AFC for years but that was about it really. I only really carry hatred for the Jets and Ravens, which seems to be norm in the fan base. Alongside maybe the Steelers, Giants and Broncos.

I know Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh don’t like each other either, but this is a rivalry being talked about more because both teams are so good at the moment. No one outside the teams would really care if they were rubbish. As far as I’m aware, there’s little history to it. But I admit I haven’t researched that and could be corrected by the Niners fans on here?

I'm with you on the Bears v. Packers. Moreover, it's one of the oldest rivalries.

Historically I would say Gints-Eagles or Bears-Packers. Proper rivalries. As has been said previously, Seattle and San Francisco is only relevant because they're both very good.

Stupid question here probably because I don't follow NFL but my mate lives in San Francisco and Duff McKagan supports Seattle so seeing as I know where they both are isn't that a kind of derby?

It is. #1, actually, but I have no idea how they reached that conclusion, given the rabid intensity and long-standing of the other 9.

Just goes to show you . . . .

Good start for the 9ers, fumble recovery on the first play, but Seahawks stop them from getting the TD from the 15. Don't think we're getting many touchdowns in this one.

Richard Sherman is an utter c**t.

Just booked a trip to the SB and all he wants to do is boast to an opposition player about how good he is.

No team in the league more dis-likeable than The PED Seahawks.

I really hope Peyton tears this lot a new one in two weeks.

That second game was fantastic, bodies on the line and being carried off constantly.

Sherman is a clown, especially considering the amount of blown coverages he madein that game. Some strange zebra calls as well.

Denver will win comfortably.

I wouldn't say the Broncos will win comfortably. But they are the best offense equipped to take on Seattle's D. Their offensive line was incredible in both play-off games and should hold off the pass rush. They also have enough receiving options to cause problems. Particularly, J and D Thomas and Decker are very good physical players who should be able to compete with the Seattle back field.

Don't rate Seattle offensively outside of Lynch, can't see them scoring much more than 20 points. Will come down to if they can shut Denver down the other side of the ball. Hopefully a clear night with little wind so Peyton doesn't have elements to worry about when throwing.
