Sponsorship alert - If you can help 19:07 - Apr 11 with 2519 views | Bacon_1977 | Clive - Can you sticky this thread A few years ago I put a request for sponsorship towards the coast to coast cycle ride in aid of Cancer Research UK, and it was a testiment to the QPR support that you gave to me, Charlie for the Maraton and other members at the same time, based on that I am back again to ask you to dig into those pockets again. This year gonna try something a little different, For some bazzar reason me and a few others have decided again to don our cycling shorts, put on those silly lids and have another go at bringing in some money for the same charity. Remember Cancer is one of the biggest killing diseases in the UK and the World over, and pretty much everyone on this board will have had someone close to them or know someone effected by it. This years Challenge, becasue 140 Miles with a (What amounts to) Ravor wedged where it shouldn't be wasn't far enough, Is to cycle in 7 days from Newcastle to Paris just over 600 miles. If you can help it would be so much appreciated not only by the charity in continuing to help those effected and fund future research into curing this disease but also by me and will be what I remind myself this is all about when things start to get difficult. Thank you all for taking the time to read and supporting if you are able to we have the following just giving site set up http://www.justgiving.com/andrew-murphy8/ which is for three of us in the same department. Sponsorship alert - If you can help on 13:15 - May 9 with 1838 views | Bacon_1977 | An update on My training. I am upto 80 miles in one ride, well nearly! http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/53534697 78.19 Miles in 5 hrs 26 mins, Set my quickest 10 and 50 mile time and am now only 15 mins from my traget time for 50 miles (3hrs target) For those runners amoung you - I am doing about 3.5 miles on a bike to 1 mile ran, so this weekend I did 22.34 miles, as I build my speed this ratio will come down a little and by the time of the ride it will be 3.25/3-1 Now for a little more about the challenge We start from Newcastle on the 11th June and arrive in Paris on the 17th June The 7 days are being broken into two sections. First 4 will be from Newcastle to Purley and then the next three from Purley to Paris, all concurrent and the only reason for the split is some people are only doing the 2nd section. Newcastle to Purley: Day 1 - Newcastle to York - 89 Miles (Running 27.38) Day 2 - York to Peterbrough - 132.4 (40.7) Day 3 - Peterbrough to Chestnut - 75.3 (23.2) Day 4 - Chestnut to Croydon - 27.9 (8.6) Purley to Paris: Day 5 - Croydon to Dover - 77.8 (23.9) Day 6 - Calais to Amiens - 98.3 (30.2) Day 7 - Amiens to Champs Elysees - 86.9 (26.7) That equates to 4 seperate marathons in 7 days with 2 days at just below a maraton distance and 1 "Rest" day well only 8.6 running miles :o) I know I have put quite a bit up - but I care about this charity and the work they do so won't apologies for passing round the begging cap but will be very grateful for any help and support any of you are able to give, Messages of good will or the £3.50 that one less pint will cost after the city game. Again Thank you to everyone who is able to help and also taken the time to read this message. http://www.justgiving.com/andrew-murphy8/ Perry (aka Bacon) | | | | Login to get fewer ads
