Meanwhile in the Bundesliga 10:51 - Dec 5 with 2631 viewsMattFinish

Having pulled Wolfsburg out of the relegation zone after being appointed at the end of last season and after a slow start this season Ralph has got Wolfsburg on a roll. He's taken them from just above the relegation zone to 3 points off Leipzig in 4th place and 2 points off a Champions League place.

Recent results have seen Wolfsburg spank 4th place Leipzig 1-5 away and knock 5th place Dortmund out of the club.

I wonder what he'd have done for us with the sort of transfer backing that Martin has had

Transfer backing?
£98m spent on 7 players in the last window.
Spend peanuts…

And don’t forget if the Feyenoord keeper hadn’t of failed his medical it would of been less than that!

Even The Austrian Messiah would struggle with these Championship level players.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

I always thought that we should not have sacked Ralph, there were injury issues in the squad that saw us drop into the bottom 3, we should have got the international break out of the way and then im sure he would have bought better than we did after he had gone and kept us up

I wanted Ralph gone, his heart wasn’t in it. However had we known Nathan Jones was coming in then we might as well if kept Ralph.

Ralph had lost his way & run out of ideas when he was sacked.
But you should only ever get rid of a Manager when you've got a better one to bring in.
Just look at the list of rubbish Managers
( or coaches as they are now known) that we have had since Ralph left.
In hindsight (which is a wonderful thing) we should have stuck with Ralph.
But the root of the problem is not the Managers, it is the Owners SR who are incapable of running a successful football club.
Until we get new owners ( no chance of that in the near future) we'll be in decline.
Us loyal fans / supporters deserve better.

I have no doubt he would. He always found a way despite being hamstrung by Gao's total lack of investment
I think in the end he was worn down

In fairness he lost his way due to lack of investment and he was continually trying to polish a türd to look like a diamond.
The team he took to the top of the PL for the first time in 32 years contained McCarthy, Stephens, Djnepo, Adams and Walcott. How he managed that is still beyond me but you can't survive with that quality of players

Can I be first to mention the 9-0’s.
Russell Martin ain’t trumped that.
Yet.

Agreed - in retrospect the mistakes were:

1) either not giving him an honourable out at the end of SP's first season, when there was clearly something amiss; or
2) not backing him properly with a striker in that window.

Either way - it's on SR. Frankly until they go, I don't see any cause for optimism.

Yep lost 9-0 to Leicester who were a much better side but then went to the King Power 2 months later and beat them 2-1

Yes they were 9 goals better.
As were Man Utd.

Hasenhüttl wanted out.
He left and we continued to pay him £115k pw for 18 months then miraculously a month before the payments were to end he got another job.

He done us like a kipper.

Nathan Jones could of sat on his arse but got another job.

The cult of Ralph lives on.

How can you compare Ralph against the best ‘Pound for Pound’ manager in Europe? Apples and Pears……

In the interest of fairness, Ralph took 16 months after he left to find another job and Nathan Jones took 12 months, so not a lot of difference in time scales.

When either manager brokered the severance deal is unclear, neither the club or manager revealed the details.

Thats football for you, you give a manager a contract and if you sack him you have to agree a severance deal or keep paying him, we could have kept Ralph and not had to pay him or Jones

This is where (as someone else suggested) maybe we could put Russell on gardening leave or whatever the correct term is; ie keep paying him and leave him cleaning the bogs. Am sure his ego would have him touting jobs and leaving before the end of his stupidly extended contract.

Don't ruin the anti Ralph narrative Nick. Fancy asking the club to honour your contract, whatever next

The fact is with a p*ss poor squad we were rarely in the relegation zone under Ralph and never looked like being relegated. We finished 11th in his first full season, 15th in his second full season and 15th in his final full season. During that time we topped the Premier League for the first time in 32 years and got to the quarter final and semi final of the cup

When you compare that with the managers that we had before and since I’d take Ralph as manager any day

He was shite ! two 9-0 nils and six defeats in another new record.

Most of the players couldnt stand him either.

Right now you have one choice.

Ralph
Selles
Jones
Martin

Who are you going to choose?

Obviously I didn't know all of the players intimately like you obviously did but the story I heard were that the players were disappointed when he went

Sounds poor, but I never wanted Ralph gone and a major component of that stance was for exactly the same reasons we face now, who will the clowns in charge get in as a replacement? Christ they could put Rylan on light duties, force him out and then set up a GoFundMe page to gather funds to take SaintRob and his mob on as first team coach.

(Mind you, if it meant no Rylan I would take that all day long)

Possibly but he did diddly squat at Leicester and got sacked and went to St Ettiene and got sacked within 2 seasons and hasn’t got another club in 3 years

Moyes to Wolves
Potter to West Ham

We either stick with Martin and go down or get someone from The Championship.
Corberan, Rohl, Williams etc and hope for the best.

Sports Republic have took this club backwards.
