needs more game time I reckon, some development squad outings are going to be required.... I liked the way he managed to find a goal in a natural silk-like way.

Thought his movement when the ball was out wide was good. Close with the header before he scored. Andersen impressed as well. Looks a player. Hayden very good, probably MoM. Hodges a little quiet.
Smells like a trout farm in here

Frey did twice in 20 mins what dykes and Armstrong haven’t done all season: get near post in front of your man. Almost scored first time, scored second time. Early days but we’ve been crying out for that.

Excellent first time pass into Frey's feet from Anderson.

Exactly this.
He may look laboured and not the most mobile, but he clearly comes alive in the penalty box, with good movement on both occasions. Early days as you say but that kind of anticipation is what we have been missing. That was a good finish.

Agreed - good instincts in the box, exactly what we need. On the other hand Armstrong can do things that Frey obviously cant - stretch defences, turn them round, beat a man with pace. Good to have both.
Never fault Dykes' effort and attitude but I'm struggling to see what he brings to the table that's better than either of the others. Impact sub role from now on, I think - still important role, especially if he's used deeper as a sub, but we now have better more effective players in all the positions he can play.

Spot on, Antti.
He is also a broad shouldered fella. Much bigger than Dykes.
That movement in the box is what we have been missing. If he can score and also almost score from two balls into him after not playing for months and not being match sharp…it’s hugely promising.
Cult hero status in the offing here.
Joe Hodge also looked a cut above to me, absolute class.

Looked very dangerous in the box, Austin like movement. I think he could be quite good for Sinclair as well, Sincs was chatting to him straight after on the pitch and repeatedly trying to copy Frey body movement and swivel to score.
However it must be said it was one hell of a pass from Anderson planted it on the guys foot

Comparisons on the basis of two short appearances might be a bit unfair, but his control, movement and decision making was so much sharper than Dykes’ from the second he came on. One flicked header that set Chair? Paal? Free for a cross that went right through the goalmouth was exceptional.
