Famous QPR Fans 17:41 - Dec 2 with 66786 viewsQPRSteve

Couldn't find the old thread on this.

I popped over to WeAreTheRangersBoys to see what there take was on Beale and stumbled on what looks like a definitive list of famous R's fans"

Right then, I only went and done it! Below is the list of names that have been mentioned above. Certain names mentioned were patently ridiculous and debunked in subsequent posts, eg Hugh Grant. Some are stretching the definition of "famous" but I left them in. Others were too imprecise eg "the one out of Eternal" so I left them out too. The list was compiled over 6 years so some are now dead or their fame has waned but irrespective of that I think they count as Famous Rs.
SEVEN esteemed posters separately answered with "Me" so maybe Michael Gove is actually a regular on here?
Lastly, Take any queries to Google - I really have no idea who half of them are. I've just listed 'em from above.

Elizabeth II.

Actually changed her name to Queen, just so the protectors of her lands would have to be called, the Queen's Parks Rangers. Wicked sende of humour.

Used to drink in the Queen Adelaide before games and often went away. She was one of the four who steamed the North Bank, Highbury in 84 if memory serves. Always up for it and used to call the Chelsea Pensioners, 'them ol' caaants'

Gawd bless yer ma'am, you were one of our own!

Well I never knew that about the Queen.

Another little known fact is that one our our earliest fans was Sherlock Holmes. He would make the short trip from Baker Street to Kensal Rise on match days and could be often seen after the match in the Case is Altered having a pint with the team.

Ben Ward of Orange Goblin maybe.

In the pic inside the first album (I think) one of them is wearing a QPR top but it's not him.

Tommy Steele is new to me.

I bet he used to get in for half a sixpence.

Tommy Steele is Millwall. At least he was up to when he was a teenager. Years ago I saw a rather good doc he made on his life as a kid in Bermondsey.

That maybe why he was new to me then.

Leslie Thomas missing?

It used to say on all of his books that he was a supporter of Queens Park Rangers.

Then all of a sudden it stopped! I think he became disillusioned after Venables left. Or was it after sexton left?

I hope he was.

Many years ago I saw him through the glass in a door I was about to go through, so held it open for him and the lady with him and he said "thank you" in that famous voice.

It made my day.

I know, he isn't but Les Claypool of Primus embodies the sheer insanity of being a QPR fan. I, for one, would welcome him.

Simon Dunmore - Defected Records chief.

Michael Nyman - Composer, he's obsessive!

He was definitely a regular in the early 70's & at that time he always boasted about being Rangers fan. I think he was born in Wales, but was a Bernado's lad in London.

I bought a CD by a space rock band called Quarkspace a few years ago. The were formed in Columbus, Ohio.

I was giving the CD its first spin when I heard some chanting which reminded me of football fans, but not just any old football fans - our fans! Then the penny dropped, the track is called "Park Rangers". Amazing, they, or at least one of them, appears to be an R.

Yes, spends a lot of time in his autobiography happily reminiscing about supporting us at Loftus Road.

Genuinely wanted to manage QPR and it just didn't work out, that's all.

Andrew Ridgeley.

I think this is due to AR wearing a QPR kit while with Wham! in China back in the 80s. An old Gooner chum of mine was at a game with some of his chums and one brought along AR. I think he might be an Arsenal fan if he's anything.
