Drakeford on 20:21 - Dec 29 by Flashberryjack | "a quarter of a century" of wasteful incompetence from a bunch of trough feeding egotistical useless w*nkers. Yes, I could be talking about the present incumbent Westminster government, but the saddest thing of all is, the Westminster government will more than likely be voted out at the next election, but Wales will still vote for the Clown known as Drakeford and his backward thinking Senedd members. |
Yes you could be right after the disastrous later years under Blair and Brown they were voted out of office to be replaced by a coalition of Liberals snd Conservatives before the liberals turned against their politicians snd the Conservatives got back in with an increased majority. They will loose power in the next election. Meanwhile after 20 years of failure the people of Wales will still vote Labour in. The only hope is that Labour somehow find a dynamic forward looking leader who is pro business, pro tourism , pro investing in vital infrastructure. Not sure any of the Current Senedd members fit that build.

Well they still spent 13k and what benefits has or will it produce? How do we know there will be any direct gain from this trip. No doubt they will put out some blurb to say there is a direct benefit, at some point. An extra few k's of lamb sales to Qatar is hardly worth it tho.

Wouldn't have thought that there's an awful lot of Halal Lamb produced in Wales and what is would probably be consumed locally.

We don’t know what benefits it will generate, but I’d have thought there are times when you have to speculate to accumulate, it’s why the British government have previously held trade fairs abroad. [Post edited 4 Jan 2023 14:40]

My personal take on things is that as long as it’s all declared, above board and there’s a good reason for it then it’s not an issue.

Johnson flew from London to Cornwall. And that idiot Truss cost us a fortune in flights.
My view is clear - Drakers should not have gone. Cymru were pish poor anyway. [Post edited 4 Jan 2023 16:57]

Didn't the Tories in Westminster spunk away tens of billions recently with test and trace, dodgy PPE contracts and dozens of boozy parties during covid?

You work in the NHS don't you? Are you happy with the way the assembly are handling the current Nurses strikes? And don't come back blaming the UK government, health is devolved to Wales the same as Scotland who had no problem settling the dispute

The money for the NHS is given by the UK government so it is down to them yes You're beloved Tory government wasted billions in one budget remember that under trustless Which would have gone a long way to paying NHS staff a decent wage

I think it’s worth pointing out that members of the UK Government including at least 2 cabinet ministers also travelled to Qatar. Given that Qatar and Exxon is investing several hundred million in Milford Haven in the next few years and looking to significantly expand the handling capability at South Hook (as well as $10bn in the US) it makes sense to look at the potential scope for further investment opportunities. Engaging with the Qataris to see if there are further opportunities makes sense. Names to faces personal relationships etc can go a long way.

I'm no Tory supporter, the money given to Wales by the UK government isn't solely for health its up to the assembly to distribute it how it sees fit. If they stopped wasting money on Rhoose airport, they could allocate more to health. Just like Scotland

As great as it is for the area and long overdue , the Qtaries have an ulterior motive , we are their market place , the bottom line is other than the initial construction phase which tend to be external companies from the area then direct employment due to technology isn't that great , certainly not on par with as it was in the 60. 70 and early 80s when in its heyday there were thousands of jobs and thats not taking into account Pembroke Power station which as ben replaced but with a much smaller work force .Anyway I'm glad for the area , hopefully more investment into the rest of Wales could follow and wouldn't go amiss

The Senedd campaigned for years to get tax raising and borrowing powers. They have them now and have chosen not to utilise them. The devolved governments have to take responsibility instead of just blaming Westminster for absolutely everything.
