Over Wyre cuisine
‘Where there is harmony, may we bring discord. Where there is truth, may we bring error. Where there is faith, may we bring doubt. And where there is hope, may we bring despair’
In certain parts of Over Wyre, the humble spud is worshipped as a Deity, and torch lit processions are held on the evening of "Stinging Nettle Day"each year, whereby locals - usually in family groups - parade in home-crafted potato costumes made of paper mache, brandishing over-sized mashers as fertility symbols.
Very popular in Scronky and Eagland Hill apparently...

In searching for this video I came across the "Over Wyre Cloggers" which will be brought to you (on mass demand) very soon.
"Over Wyre Cloggers" Bit harsh on Spud Junior.
‘Where there is harmony, may we bring discord. Where there is truth, may we bring error. Where there is faith, may we bring doubt. And where there is hope, may we bring despair’

Of course Spud, don't forget:
Anyone from either St Anne's or Lytham will be punished by being obliged to spend an afternoon in B and M Bargains if they contract covid 19.
Haha!
Look forward to the `Cloggers`, spell. Morris dancing is the new grime.
Factoid:
At different times I have done work at the houses of Billington and Mayman (B & M).
Billington was building a massive housein an exclusive area of Cleveleys.
Mayman was a lovely old fella who told me how they struggled when they started as they had next to no money and how they hit on the lines that got them going.
His son was a couple of years older than me at school and something of a weirdo (and not in a good way), as I vaguely recall...

I'm thinking of making this a Sunday staple.
These beautiful Knott End scenes are sure to tug on your heartstrings and bring a tear to your eye:
P.S. You'll all have to wait for footage of the Over Wyre cloggers.
Haha! Lov-er-ly!
Recognised nearly all of them!
Used to play golf at Knott End Golf Course with two pals then go to the cafe for lunch sometimes.
The bikers congregate there every Wednesday en masse.
When I was young I used to get the ferry from Fleetwood to Knott End with my posse, and go fishing and occasionally camping in there. When I got older we used to drive and play cards and drink over there. My first girlfriend was from Knott End!
In summer we sometimes walk with the dogs from our house to Knott End along the edge of the marshes (a couple of miles), through the golf course and up to the cafe. And don`t really go on a road at all...

Top stories Spud.
If you tell me what qualifies as 'first girlfriend' then I'll spill the beans.
Does it depend on which base you get to?
Haha!
We went to a proper village `hop`. We were like gangsters to the locals (being rough boys from Fleetwood) and the local girls were immediately interested in us.
Mine was a private school girl (Elmslie in Blackpool) who looked like Purdey out of the `Avengers` - the haircut was fashionable for a while.
She was out of my league, and I think the` roughness` aspect soon wore thin.
Held a torch for her for ages!
Hey ho...

Great song about being 15.
Edit to add: this is exactly how I remember it...

Where was "grab a granny night"? Sands? Spud should know.
