The problem with bootlickers like you is that you honestly think we will prosper in an unequal union, Stockholm syndrome.

Just think what we could do with the 5.8 billion that it is going to cost the Welsh Taxpayer for HS2. Why should we pay taxes to fund vanity projects across the border? Why should they get our cheap energy? The list goes on. We are being shafted.

As for nats - try republican instead.

Bootlicking doesn't come into it. The only thing that i consider is what system would be best economically for the people of Wales as a whole, and then how individual welsh men and women would have an environment in which to best achieve their aspirations.
The performance of the Welsh government over the last 20 years has been a massive disappointment. you'd need to be at least 55 years of age to be in a position to compare like with like. I suppose that's why you attract lots of younger supporters.

Do you think Welsh boots taste any better ?

Apart from it not currently being a forced union but a democratic choice (as in the majority don't want to leave) I have a question.

What is the earnings stat for the top 20% of Welsh residents as against the poorest?

Also do you know if these richest people will choose to stay in Wales if we went indy?

Wales and the welsh people have never agreed to, or voted for, this toxic union.

Thats a fact.

You know the drill.

The people have spoken, its the will of the people, etc etc.

I believe an independent Wales in the EU would resolve the issues you are concerned about.
Good to have you aboard the indy bus.

UK debt 2019 £1.8trillion, 85% of GDP.

In 2018 the richest fifth of the population had income 12 times the amount earned by the poorest.

A tired and toxic forced union.

It is still more per head of the population than the UK's. It's debt is likely to increase as it has finally become a net contributor to the EU after years of being subsidised. It contribution will increase substantially as the EU's ever increasing budget will not longer receive £12 billion from the UK.

The ROI gdp is also likely to decrease once the EU's legislation on profits of multi nations will be taxed in each individual country instead of all their profits being diverted to countries like Luxembourg and Ireland to be taxed at a lower rate.

But Wales still has some of the poorest parts of the EU.
Its how Wales qualified for EU structural funding.
The Tory govt will not replace it.

Wales and Scotland have not been excluded from brexit talks. Brexit talks are a responsibility of parliament and both Scotland and Wales send more MPs to parliament than their actual voting population reflects.

Don't forget the UK had a nationwide referendum which voted to leave and a recent parliamentary election where the party with a Brexit policy in their manifesto won.

It is call democracy.

Even I was surprised at that, but unfortunately for you, those are the views of the people of Wales. To be honest, with the continuing movement of English settling in Wales, and this will increase post covid, I'm beginning to think Wales will never vote for independence..

While London-based journalists squabble about whether or not the UK Government has reached 200,000 tests on a particular day, it is clear that whichever way they are counted England now has one of the largest testing capacities in Europe. Wales, by comparison has stumbled from missed target to missed target, as of the end of last month carrying out fewer than 3,000 tests when the First Minister had set a target for 10,000. Guido has compiled a timeline of the whole debacle…

Early March: Welsh Government promises 6,000 tests by 1 April
21 March: Welsh Government promises to boost capacity to 9,000 tests per day
31 March: Welsh Government has capacity to deliver 800 tests.
Early April: Welsh Government promises 5,000 tests a day by mid-April
15 April: Welsh Government has capacity to deliver 1,300 tests.
15 April: 5,000 test target scrapped.
1 May: Wales conducts 1,090 tests. England conducts 122,000.
17 May: Welsh Government sets new target of 10,000 tests by the end of May
31 May: Welsh Government carries out 2,945 tests.
A leaked report has stated that Wales would need to ramp up testing to 36,000 per day in order to track and trace infections, yet they are running at just 10% of that number. Yesterday Guido reported that the Welsh First Minister has not been meeting the Prime Minister. If lessons from England were learnt, there would be less of a mess in Wales…

The UK never voted to join the EU, Wales actually voted to leave the EU but you'd have us back in tomorrow if you could.

I could argue that every time we voted for reps at Westminster we consented to be part of the UK.

You don't like answering some questions do you, where is the stat for the top 20% against the bottom in Wales?
Then answer this, if we assume Wales went indy very soon, how long would you be prepared to wait to gain membership of the EU? Put another way how long fo you think Wales would prosper outside the UK AND outside the EU?

Do feck off.

Thats like an abusive husband threatening his wife not to leave cos nobody else will want her.
Its not a good reason to stay.

Do you think welsh people are uniquely incapable of running their own affairs..?

Joining the uk has never been a question whatever you may argue.
Its bollox.

The EU would welcome indy Wales and Indy Scotland as modern democratic republics. The added bonus for them would be be to feck off the Brexit idiots. Which is fair enough.

Yes, but not for the reason you think.

When the Welsh Govt was formed in 1997 then 49.70% voted against it.
You appear to be celebrating that figure now being 25%.

Whereas 25% came out for Indy Wales in same poll.
This is the highest figure ever recorded, up 4% from January.

This is a one way journey to national freedom.
Its driven by our young people.

It doesn't surprise me. The Assembly probably wasn't wanted by the majority of people in the first place and by hasn't performed since it has existed. Should Wales get independence it would be the same inept bunch of politicians we have now handling far bigger issues than they have at the moment.

With the exception of the development of Cardiff city centre, the Welsh language, free prescriptions (even for those who could afford them) and single use carrier bags. I can't think of anything that the Senedd have really delivered on - especially without external help - in nearly 20 years.

What does worry we is that the current crop in Westminster and Cardiff Bay are so bad it will add fuel to the fire of "Yes, Cymru".

Hopefully soon the poor Westminster performance regarding Covid will see some real change in Government, but I'm not holding my breath. Roll on 2024. Until then let's see what happens in next years WG elections.

Rubbish lets take the most important one deaths.

The uk has had 42288 Wales 1471. The population of the UK is 66.4 million. Wales is 3.1 million. Doing a calculation using England's death rate 42288X3.1/66.4 Wales should have 1974 deaths so Wales has 503 deaths less than England on a proportional basis. It is even higher using the ONS figures for number of excess deaths.

Yesterday the death figure for Wales was 5 and the UK 135. The equivalent deaths yesterday using Wales figures was 105 for England.

Yesterday Wales had 48 new cases and England 1218. The English new cases based on the Welsh figure would have been 1028.

The figures yesterday show the start of the problems in 2 factories in Anglesey and Wrexham and will rise over the next week or so. Besides Anglesey, Wrexham and the Cardiff Bay area there were 17 new cases in Wales. 5 health boards in South Wales had 7 new cases between them. 4 counties in North Wales had 7 cases between them.1 was resident outside Wales and 2 the locations were unknown. There wasnt a new case between Pencoed and Pembroke. 10 counties didnt have any new cases. Flintshire, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Powys, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly didnt have a single new case. Merthyr Tydfil Rhondda Cynon Taff, Monmouthsire and Denbighshire had 1 new case each and Cerdigion. Newport and Gwynedd had 2 cases each.

Not many:

It's from a good week ago and doesn't show the rate per capita, but I don't think there's region in England with such a low rate. South west and East Midlands maybe just about better off in their peak weeks, but very close.

And it's impossible to argue that the Welsh advice hasn't been clearer lately.

Sorry only just seen this. I said

There are many places around the uk with a lower death rate than the UK average and not only places like Staffa. Go figure. Lies, damn lies and statistics.

Your figures are interesting and your comment on regions seem fair, but I said lots of places, not regions, so was referring to the fact there are lots of places in the UK where you might feel safe (equally places in Wales where you might have felt less safe than places in England, N.Ireland and Scotland).

Just pointing out the localised variances across the UK. Many of the reasons for those variances are obvious, some not so much. And of course these can change, look at the recent unfortunate turn of events in Anglesey, despite all our efforts.
