Early days but encouraging signs 11:22 - Aug 18 with 2568 views | dickythorpe | Our movement off the ball and numbers getting into the box seem to have soared so far. I think there seems to be a very good spirit out there on the field. Long may it continue!
Early days but encouraging signs on 12:01 - Aug 18 with 2502 views | Badlands | Were you watching a replay from 2012? Until the final 25 - 30 minutes we were like zombies. I've never known a team go a goal down and take so long to take a throw in. Aye was doing his nut trying to get people moving, Rodon was routinely isolated as players shot off in all directions except to a place where a simple pass was available and Jake Bidwel ambles back to his position like a seagull on dopamine. Credit to the team for sticking with Cooper's plan for 60 minutes but the difference was down to senior, quality, players taking control - Borja, Ayew, Hoorn - pulling strings on the pitch and reverting to patterns that make possession and passing effective. I'm not sure what the plan is in the first half / 60 minutes of games (seems to be threading the ball through a crowded midfield in the hope someone will get on the end of it) but it isn't working. We are getting bodies in the box more than before but we also need those bodes to know what to do so they don't simply overcrowd the penalty are and leave acres of space behind. Borja's goal was a delight - Roberts looked up, a group of Swans player all moved towards the near post leaving Boston in space and the pass was first rate. That is effective. Crowding the penalty are so there is not clear shooting opportunity or huddling together in the same small area isn't.

Early days but encouraging signs on 13:17 - Aug 18 with 2402 views | Pegojack | Wednesday will be a good pointer for me. Going to a tight little ground, hostile crowd on top of you in a night game, and not a particularly happy hunting ground for us after the famous 5-0 win. They are looking to bounce back after a defeat too. I'd be well happy with a point there.

We are, in my opinion, relying on individuals. Potter succeeding, in the main, by making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. I do't see this happening ... yet.

Depends what you mean by "about him". I think Potter is much better tactically and has more up his sleeve so to speak. Cooper has a lot more learning to do, but I think he can be just as good, if not better. Cooper is much more likeable a character imo. I was gutted when Potter left, as I was sure we could/would not replace him with anyone as capable. I'm more than happy we have though and I'm just as excited to see what Coopie can do, as I was with GP.

Potter - got more out of players than Cooper. As did Roberto, Sousa, Rogers and Laudrup (and at times Guidolin. [Post edited 18 Aug 2019 22:30]

How the fook can you judge Cooper after only 3 games in charge!? 3 games in, 7 points and unbeaten.

They will also be a lot more physical than our other 3 opponents so far this season (as will Birmingham on Sunday), if we are still unbeaten after these 2 games I may revise my mid-table expectations,
