QPR could leave H&F on 19:01 - Feb 6 by WestbourneR | 'Brainwashed rag reading right winger rails against 'left wing' socialist policies that defend the rights of the working class to proper housing' Somehow the left wing, which has done more for the working class than the right wing of the Tory party ever has, has become the enemy of a large proportion of the working class in the UK and it's very very odd. While a super privileged right winger like Rees Mogg, who doesn't care at all about the welfare of the working person at all, is a champion of the white van man. I have absolutely no idea how the right wing press have managed to pull off this totally non sensical con trick but they really have and it's remarkable. Brexit is its greatest achievement. Europe, which has done more for workers rights that any UK government ever, is seen as the enemy of the working man. Sunderland car workers vote against the very trade block that has directed work to their region. It goes on and on. It's insane. Turkey's voting for Christmas left right and centre. I think a fair bit of what you say is correct, but it just underlines the paucity of political leadership in the country. Trouble is the last Labour government looked after public sector workers, and those who don't work. If you worked in the private sector you just got higher taxes. Most enthusiastic labour supporters I know are public sector workers. And if you look at the corbyn rallies they are pretty middle class. It is indeed a strange phenomenon about Rees mogg as you say, but there is such a vacuum even someone like him can fill it. If there was a decent, sensible leader god knows how popular they wouldbe
QPR could leave H&F on 09:16 - Feb 7 with 2621 views | isawqpratwcity | "If QPR’s owners won’t put their money where their mouth is and invest in the current stadium..." How many times does Lee Hoos have to explain that redeveloping Loftus Road is just not feasible? H&F come across as a bunch of raving ratbags trying to dictate what QPR should do. There's nothing wrong with them trying to get the best deal for their constituency (which includes the club as a local institution) but fair go, they should stick to their area of expertise.

Much more likely in the current climate, some sort of “Trump-alikey” is going to emerge I think.

Now what is actually so typically QPR about this is the way we just got into the 5th round of the cup for the first time since the invention of the crossbar and not playing in caps with tassels....... and so we obviously need some bad news, bad PR, a bit of a row, and the return of that lovely feeling that we are, in fact, cursed.

QPR could leave H&F on 08:24 - Feb 7 by BrianMcCarthy | Listened to it again this morning, and I still fell very uneasy. I feel uneasy with him starting a row with the borough, as that smacks of trying to bully them, an approach that rarely extracts what you want from the people who are holding it. And I feel uneasy that it was Fernandes: either he did a solo run which would undermine the chairperson, or it was a group decision to put the controversial one out in front to start a public battle. And I must reluctantly question the judgement of the podcast who should have seen this coming. This lands our club in a public spat with our borough at a tome when we need them desperately, and the podcast gave a platform to Fernandes to start it. If this approach by Fernandes (and, possibly, his fellow owners) ends well, I'll be amazed. [Post edited 7 Feb 2019 9:27]

It's the drastic option but I'd genuinely prefer that than moving miles out of Shepherds Bush. If we end up in some anonydrome in Hayes or Feltham or Uxbridge somewhere I reckon that would be me done.

Isn't it a bit shit for pubs round there? That's the one thing my Fulham supporting friend is jealous of between us and them - well that and our lack of red corduroy etc. There's that Crabtree one - rammed, then keep walking for a while to the Blue Boat - posh and rammed, and Bishop's Park on the other side - if I was a Fulham supporter I'd be looking to get pissed in there but I imagine they've got measures in place to deter that sort of behaviour. Anyway, Tony is definitely not helping and I'm sure Amit is thinking the same thing - poor bastard's probably wracking his brain for some appeasing words at this very moment.

QPR could leave H&F on 10:40 - Feb 7 with 2398 views | YorkRanger | This seems to be some kind of political play and nobody on here will be familiar with the full facts and discussions that have been ongoing. The one thing that is clear to me is that any response to H&F should have been an official statement by the club. If any individual was to reply that should have been the Chairman or Hoos. Fernandes relinquished his role as Chairman and is not the voice of the club. The Twitter exchange was inappropriate and frankly embarrassing.

QPR could leave H&F on 19:33 - Feb 6 by barbicanranger | This all sounds very typical QPR. Spurs get a huge, vast new stadium. Arsenal get a huge, vast new stadium in densely populated area. West Ham get a huge vacuum bowl for the cost of a two bed. Brentford crow bar a new stadium in to train tracks. Even more relevant Chelsea get planning permission for a monstrosity in a densely populated, high-end area. QPR want to take a piece of wasting council land, improve it, maintain the community facility, build a modest size stadium and use it's current site, which it owns to finance it. Sounds simple yet cause it's us it's impossible. |
Perfectly put. | | | |

"Turkey's voting for Christmas left right and centre". Yes, in a referendum in the UK because, after all, the Leave campaign told us ever single Turk wanted to, and would, move to the UK. I hope the last person to leave said country turned the lights off and put the cat out before they left. Oh, hang on, Turkey isn't even in the EU yet, you say? Back on topic, whatever the whys and wherefores of it, the council's statements have been unprofessional and inflammatory. RFA

It's interesting to consider why that is, isn't it? I can't shake the feeling that TF is absolutely not to be trusted. He's obviously a brilliant PR guy and seemingly open and transparent and reasonable, which has meant he's able to garner an astonishing amount of goodwill from our fanbase relative to his actual performance as owner. But what's his goal here? The Jamie Reuben appointment is quite telling, as is TF's continued insistence that he's only here because he "loves QPR". He was asked why he was still at QPR on the pod the other day and yet again evaded the question by just saying he loved the club. Forgive me for calling bullsh!t on that. I don't trust him at all and wouldn't be remotely surprised if we end up shunted out towards the M25 while he and his consortium rake in the money from the LR land.

QPR could leave H&F on 08:23 - Feb 7 by CliveWilsonSaid | Some fair points here but I'd imagine whoever eventually gets this land will be wealthy and will looking to make a few bob out of it. |
In order to develop the land you need financing. Banks are reluctant to loan huge amounts without attaching heavy t/c's. The Board at QPR have access to huge amounts of capital, so you can see the Council are eyeing a quick buck. It's political now, as it always is with politicians, most of whom do not have the cerebral capacity to understand the detail of this type of deal. Planning departments are cut to bone and there is little money to get external consultant advice. So, easy to start by deflecting the subject of giving QPR an opportunity to build a new stadium, improve local infrastructure, offer new housing and create jobs by playing fecking politics. TF is right to call these amateurs out and I bet he is right. It will come down to a number that is acceptable to the Council, that allows them some wriggle room as well as saying they got a good deal for local residents. Just a matter of time.

It's about business. I would not be surprised if the QPR Board have had discussions with interested parties willing to buy Loftus Rd or develop a joint venture vehicle. It's unprofessional not to call-out or challenge an opportunity that would improve your business footprint. If the other party say "feck-off" in my experience that is not the end - just the start of the negotiation. Given what we are after, being nice will get us no-where. Unfortunately, as a club we are likely to crap-on a number of parties/stakeholders to get what we want.
