Paradise Papers: Tax haven secrets of ultra-rich exposed on 22:38 - Nov 6 by Lord_Bony | The cast of Mrs browns boys involved as well… Apparently they get paid by the production company into an offshore bank account in Mauritius from there they "borrow" money which is put into their bank account in the UK One girl has had £375,000 put in in the last three months… All TaxFree of course and a major tax dodge that is being investigated. |
How the absolute hell can the supporting cast of that horrific pile of dross earn over £300k a year from it? Dear God. What is the matter with people watching that utter crap. I saw the main bloke interviewed on Graham Norton a while ago and he was quite phenomenally unpleasant as well. People are easily pleased.

Mrs Brown's boys is one of the worst things I have seen on TV...I genuinely don't know how people find it funny. It's the 'XFactor' people watching, I suspect. And some people dare compare it with the excellent Father Ted...

Absolute crap and a waste of the license fee. The supporting cast are Brendan O'Connell's daughter and son-in-law 🤔🤔 Talk about Nepotism!!

Father Ted was genuinely clever and funny (as with all shows it went a bit downhill, but in its prime). Mrs Browns Boys seems to string out the 'amusement' of a bloke dressed up as a woman for year after year after year. It's terrible.
Paradise Papers: Tax haven secrets of ultra-rich exposed on 14:28 - Nov 7 with 3206 views | Batterseajack | Many on here saying its not illegal, it didn't seem like that to me watching last nights show. These guys take tax free loans from their offshore wealth fund and don't pay the load back. Therefore it is not a loan, just a backdoor means of accessing money they have earned in this country and not paid tax on. The thing is, our country doesn't help itself by having so many tax havens under its jurisdictions. Hard working plebs keep picking up the bill. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

They earn an absolute fortune, part of their earnings ,an estimated £2million has been diverted to Mauritius then back to the u.k. This show makes a fortune from repeats, merchandise and spin offs for the production company which is owned by these three. The same accountant and scheme is used for "comedian" Jimmy Carr.

Paradise Papers: Tax haven secrets of ultra-rich exposed on 15:04 - Nov 7 with 3178 views | Dracan66 | Why is it when the Queen's estate is found to have squirreled away money offshore then its nothing to do with her and more to do with her advisors, hence she's totally innocent of tax avoidance and yet when the cast of Mrs Browns boys do it they are castigated as tax avoiders! Its a shame panorama failed to concentrate more so on the Queen's failure to pay UK tax on the 10 million..... The good old BBC with their old school tie brigade don't want to ruffle too many feathers I suspect!

Not paying tax on their earnings. Taking out so called loans which aren't loans because they don't pay them back as a means of reaching their untaxed income. Surely that's breaking the law.

Nah, most of the time it is legal. Just "loopholes". It does make the BBC look like massive hypocrites though. You get investment bankers who are usually forced through PAYE, while the media luvvies offshore their earnings. These things are "legal" until HMRC/court decide they are not. When they are deemed illegal, then the issues begin and repayments/fines are made. Suspect there will be some flat-out illegal stuff in there though - money laundering and the like

Each case has to be taken on it's own merit but I would think that the Hmrc would take a dim view of it, especially as no interest is paid on the loan. It's a loophole that only the very wealthy are aware of, whereas the average joe out there works his nuts off and pays his taxes...we live sadly in a very split society where every tax avoiding penny that's taken offshore is a penny that could be invested in schools, hospitals and other public services. Name and shame is the way forward.

It's not the offshoring that's the issue. There are issues here that would result in a very serious investigation if done by anyone else, with some pretty serious consequences.

Paradise Papers: Tax haven secrets of ultra-rich exposed on 12:20 - Nov 6 by Highjack | Yes and no different to those who choose to claim benefit after benefit they are legally entitled to as an alternative to going to work. We are a very greedy species, just like every other species and will always grab free stuff when offered. |
No different? There's a huge difference. Benefit cheats are raiding the public purse - money donated by taxpayers - not their own - and taking chunks of it illegally. Other people's money. People who use perfectly legal tax avoidance schemes are desperately trying to hang on to more of their OWN money. Anybody who claims they don't organise their financial affairs in order to minimise their tax liability, is either an idiot or a hypocrite. Most fall into the second category, e.g. The Guardian, Daily Mirror, John McDonnell, Margaret Beckett and most Lefties who love to huff and puff about 'tax havens'. [Post edited 10 Nov 2017 17:51]

Indeed . For a while a few years back, i was paying over 10 K per quarter to the VAT man customs and excise for my business..I did not even have a thank you note or anything for these payments,as far as I was concerned it was just money flushed down the toilet. After a while I thought what the hell is the point and had my accountant to come up with various ways and loopholes to reduce these payments drastically...all legal and above board. It was done, again without acknowledgements from them or enquiries just acceptance....basically you're just paying a computer. The point being all of us will try and reduce our tax outgoings if we can legally.. not much gratitude off the govt for overpaying uneccesarily...

Spot on. I feel your pain. The uninformed rantings on here about 'people not paying their taxes' are so typical of the times we live in. Grab a headline and make loud indignant noises about it, never mind the facts. Everybody pays tax. The question is how much tax. And what is done with it. I've got no particular axe to grind about Lewis Hamilton. I detest Formula 1. But he bought an aircraft for several million pounds - from earnings on which he had already paid tax. He then arranged the purchase in such a way that he avoided being taxed again. What he did was perfectly legal. Was it immoral? That's a matter of personal conjecture. It doesn't bother me. What would bother me is if he started lecturing the rest of us about the immorality of legal tax avoidance, as do McDonnell and Beckett. Of course the motto of the Left is 'do as I say, not as I do'. They all undergo specialist training on how to be a hypocrite.
