The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 18:47 - Sep 11 with 1536 views | Al_Bundy | Great point all things considered. Positives was the performances of Fabs Fer Kingsley Amat (when he wasn't fouling) and Barrow who gave us an outlet. New formation could possibly work against lesser sides without Taylor in it as a WB Great passion when the confidence came back and could have nicked it with some poor crossing in the final 10 mins. Negatives - We have no on pitch Captain and the CB pairing really is a liability. Our work rate and organisation was questionable for an hour where against teams like Chelsea you really have to put a shift in. Have to be happy with a point but defensively especially its needs shoring up very quickly and the midfield needs another addition from somewhere.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 17:00 - Sep 11 by BlameHuwJenkins | Fer is playing like he always does. Maybe he'll get a goal and most will forget about his disgusting defensive laziness as usual. For Hazard's 1 on 1 he was walking back despite being half a yard from him at one point. For the goal he walked out to block a shot 18 yards from goal. When will people realise he's a huge liability in midfield. He and Jack Cork are there to defend yet both are useless at it. |
I thought Fer played well

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 18:19 - Sep 11 by jackrabbit | Some after-thoughts: I don't blame Taylor. Where was he supposed to be playing and what was he expected to do? I had the feeling Guidolin had him mixed up with Montero - constantly switch the ball out to him on the touchline and he'll run past the defender and put in a perfect cross. Er, no. He's a full back, a good defender, but a limited attacker. Time Franco realised that. I get impatient with people criticising Fer and Ki - who are together with Gylfi, the most skilled footballers in the team. We have players who do not have good enough skills for the PL, but those three players, plus Barrow, are not in that group. Llorente obviously has talents but they are not being properly utilised. Fabianski is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League - compare him with 'Juliet' Bravo of Man City yesterday. He saved us again today. In summary, 10 out of 10 for the grit and fight that we showed second half, but when all is said and done, we lack quality all over the field, and we need strengthening. I am not impressed with Guidolin's reading of the game, and his use of substitutions. He was lucky today. Anyway - phew! Great point. On to Southampton next week. |
Not many managers would have the cahonas to admit they got it wrong and hook a player in the first half! Guidolin read it perfectly and made the right change and Neil Taylor would be overestimating his contribution if he considered himself collateral damamge. He was very, very poor - it might not be his fault but he's proved he's inadequate to perform the role asked of him. Poor beyond.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 18:34 - Sep 11 by Darran | I don't think Taylor was that bad myself. |
He played like a second rate Wayne Routledge. Got in to good positions and saw plenty of the ball but didn't protect it and mostly passed to Chelsea as he had absolutely no gumption when in possession. Try something and f*ck it up - that's one thing, but to be clueless at this stage in his career is incomprehensible.

I don't need to make a truce with anyone I haven't said anything wrong today or in the past. People don't like the truth and as I've already said any f*cker that suggests dismissing the manager before we'd even kicked off today clearly isn't a fan in the sense of the word that the rest understand it to mean.

Not sure whether its said elsewhere, but I thought Costas disgusting antics actually worked in our favour to certain extent because we in the crowd were so incensed it actually got us going and the more aggressive atmosphere lifted the team, I hope.

Someone once said :it only takes a second to score a goal". He took him off because he was abysmal and a total liability. He should have, as someone nicely put it, been subbed before kick-off. I know Guidolin has held his hand up, and I know that this sort of thing can crush confidence, but it was the right decision. He's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 18:39 - Sep 11 by londonlisa2001 | Started reasonably ok - heads dropped after their goal (really need to see if Mawson or VDH can play instead of FF), knew that we needed to change, took the right player off (Taylor - grow up). Second half played with pride and purpose. Of course we were not in their class - of course we were not - only an idiot would expect us to be. But we fought for everything and did incredibly well, much better than I expected us to do. Guidolin was decisive in making an early change (when Mourinho does such things, he is lauded) and a team which will probably finish in the top two found that we are no pushover. Look at how irritated they all were - Costa and Conte in particular. We should really take heart from that. As an aside, Amat did as well against Costa as anyone does. Ki and Fer really started to click (have to remember they've had no preseason together and haven't played since more than a few minutes) and Barrow did well. Siggy is getting back to himself again, and Kingsley and Naughton did well given the quality of their opposition. Put Baston into that mix, and try one of the other centre half options, and we may be starting to get somewhere. Really pleased with that result. There'll be miles bigger and better teams than us lose to them at home by a mile this season. |

Swans were not likely to concede with Taylor on the pitch and there was only a few minutes to half-time so the Swans still had 45 minutes to score. Guido gave his hand away to Conte, Conte had halftime to factor in Taylor off and Barrow on into his thoughts and team talk.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 19:41 - Sep 11 with 1098 views | GreatBritton | Chelsea had Hazard,Oscar, Willian and Kante; we had Fer, Cork, Taylor and Ki. That was like trying to step up two weights in a boxing match. We didn't throw the towel in, however. I've now got to agree that Federico is a liability and, though Kingsley struggled a bit, Taylor is too. Hurry up, Baston

Firstly we already had conceded with Taylor on the pitch. Secondly it was only a couple of minutes before half time because Barrow had been waiting for about 4 or 5 minutes to get on and there was no break in play. Thirdly we scored two in the new formation so Conte's team talk can't have been that incisive. We just drew with a team that will be in the top 2. Big teams will drop points to them left right and centre. How about everyone stops bloody moaning about every decision and player for once.
