Hornets game 11:49 - Jan 17 with 28427 viewsonedalefan

Called off due to snow making the surrounding area unsafe and taking conditions of people travelling into account.Says that the pitch is rated 50/50 to play but would take time to move the snow. Would suggest they were still thinking of playing even after yesterday.

That's the plan. Let's see what happens.

Indeed.

But why does the disdain shown by supporters of either club affect anything?

Maybe it's just me but I would say that most directors of any club will be cognisant of the views of the supporters. They'd be pretty foolish not to be so. These supporters views could therefore colour the views/opinions/attitudes of the directors. That's how the World works.

So you think the Dale directors base their actions on what is said on this messageboard?

There are plenty of examples of where supporters disagree with the club on here. If only we could have coloured the views at Spotland when it came to dropping a colour from the home strip this season!

I think Hornets fans should stop worrying so much, accept there are Dale fans who don't like rugby played at Spotland, but be thankful that there's a long term plan for that to continue.

I think that the fans that you speak of are only treating Hornets with the same 'disdain' and disrespect that they believe RAFC have been shown over the last x amount of years.

Putting aside the fact that you're assuming a few opinions on a messageboard are representative of the whole fanbase, I would probably imagine that a straw poll amongst Hornet fans would show they hold RAFC in the same contempt that you perceive that we ALL hold them.

When did my " significant faction" become your " ALL " ?

Mathematically speaking, a 'significant faction' and 'all' can be treated as one and the same for conclusion-drawing purposes.

It's a bit like having something like a kit poll on here and using the results as representative of the whole fanbase, in the absence of any other voting mechanism.

How many posts have you read on here showcasing this 'disdain' that you speak of?

Bearing in mind you'll have seen multiple posts from the same people, I'll generously estimate around 30. Let's assume I'm completely wrong and it's 10 times that, do you think the views of 300 people would be wholly representative of the Dale fanbase? No...just...no.

Significant faction.

Yep.

I'll say.

There was a famous Viz quote once which said "harder than Steven Hawkins' homework" which meant a Gentleman's twitch between their legs upon seeing Sam Fox, Linda Lusardi, or some other well proportioned lass in a state of undress." In other words a really hard, hard-on.

I'm telling you Ming, Tvos's homework is much harder than that freak Hawkins! His Maths is the best.

You`re wasting your time Ming, the Hornets haters and the Dale haters would rather see both codes go under than co-operate with each other, thus ensuring the survival of both these sporting icons who`ve represented the town for well over 100 years. The parochialism and hatred on both sides (Hornets did this,Dale did that),going back years is,quite frankly, mind boggling, especially for two codes who almost don`t have a penny to scratch their collective arses with.
But I`ve said all this before. Thank god I could see the writing on the wall over forty years ago and pissed off to the Antipodes where I can watch (support) whatever code I want to watch, and nobody gives a shit, ground sharing and all.

So you went to live Down Under (you should have mentioned this Utopian place before) because of Dale and Hornets, who actually played at opposite ends of the town 40 years ago and had very little, if anything, to do with each other?

I saw a TV programme years ago about " The Chicken Ranch " a brothel in Nevada I think.

The madam was talking about an 80 year old customer. She said " Give him a Viagra tablet and his dick is harder than Chinese Arithmetic ". I like that quote.

Well it was common knowledge at the time that the " scroungers " cash kept the football club from going under when the ground shares were first purchased. It also probably kept Hornets from going also.

Hope it snows all Saturday night!! I believe the friendly that went ahead should never have been played - it was surely obvious to those 'in charge' of making the decision that any game, played that day, would have ruined the surface for the rest of the season - for both codes.

I wonder why the Dale allowed the ground staff to put the goal posts up and mark the pitch out?

Or staff and open the bar, or order the pies and Bovril?

1. How do you know all those things happened, if indeed they did?

2. If the club hadn't done so, they would rightly be subject to scrutiny.

I don't know for sure hence the question mark, but the bar and catering are nothing to do with Hornets. It might be that the staff are "officially" employed by the Stadium company (????) but we both know that it's the Dale that take the trouble to run things. Same with the ground staff I believe (???).

It need only only take Mr Dunphy to close the bar, close the catering, instruct the ground staff not to mark out the pitch or put the sticks up or even to put a new padlock on the floodlight switch and bingo...no game.
