Our fans thrown out yesterday.. 09:36 - Jan 3 with 8249 views | smithc71 | What an embarrassment those two fans are to our club, thinking they are clever sneaking alcohol into the stand and then hiding from the stewards, brought shame to our club after such a great performance. Why do we attract clowns like this thinking they are funny? Soon stopped the smirking when the police got to them under the stand.

Its not. You're not allowed to drink in view of the Match. It's a law that needs changing because IMHO it just encourages binge drinking before matches and people necking beers during half-time. It won't ever happen, but licencing certain areas of the ground with proper stewarding to eject drunks (drunks generally get into grounds despite it not being allowed) would increase safety and no doubt earn clubs more money. It might encourage fans to get into the ground earlier, which will help stop hundreds of fans getting through a couple of turnstiles, five minutes before kick off.

Works well enough in rugby and cricket and on the continent. I can go 45 mins without a drink of course but I do think you're right in that the current law encourages binge drinking. On Saturday I could quite easily sit in the pub from 11am get tanked up and turn up to the game.

Nor has Football for over 25 years. I cannot be bothered doing the maths, but there must be over a million people who attend a Football match each weekend. You don't see many riots. Accepting that Football Grounds are more peaceful than a shopping centre isn't good for the news or policing bills.

Doesn't apply to lower league matches. Took in Glossop North End v New Mills on Monday and was able to buy a pint in their bar, walk out to the side of the pitch and continue to drink while the game was on and having banter with the linesman. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Very true but if people enjoy their day more and the whole experience of watching football then surely it should be explored as an option.

Unless either of the Hull rugby league clubs are taking part. Only time I have ever seen disorder amongst RL fans involved these clubs. Must be something in the Humberside water.

Many years ago I went to watch Leigh RLFC play at Hull RLFC. Unbelieveably the Hull fans were fighting amongst themselves during the game. The Leigh supporters coaches had a police escourt away from the ground after the match. Stones were thrown at the coaches but fortunately didn't shatter any windows I also went to Salford RLFC (when they were at the Willows) for another Leigh game and I can remember Salford fans damaging cars parked in the streets near the ground after the game Contrary to what people think there was quite a bit of 'aggro' at rugby league games in the past (and there is still some now but not much thankfully) - though in the main the "hooligans" were on the pitch and not on the terraces in those days

Our fans thrown out yesterday.. on 16:41 - Jan 7 with 5326 views | 1mark1 | Is there any more hooliganism in football than Rugby amongst supporters nowadays? On a statistical level it is almost nonexistent in football I would imagine. Not at all defending any that does take place. And yes I too believe it's about time football fans in the FL and PL should be able to drink alcohol in the stands whilst watching the match, even if it doesn't personally effect me. I also think there should be a "smokers corner"allowed in stands,-does not personally effect me, where it is safe to do so, as well as standing terraces when it can be done safely. I have seen trouble at both this seasons and last rugby league grand final at old Trafford, also a massive police presence at warrington twice, so lets not look at rugby league with too heavy a rose tint. There is no reason why people shouldn't enjoy a drink in seated areas of the ground, and especially in the exec boxes, are people going to smash the glass and invade the pitch!!!

Our fans thrown out yesterday.. on 15:05 - Jan 12 with 4910 views | ParkinsGimp | Police presence at Warrington would of been when Hull visited. There is bad blood between the two ever since Hull City's invincible( bullies) Psycho squad or whatever they call themselves got a good hiding in Hull one year for daring to stop people drinking in their area. They then came down to the Wire mob handed one Friday night game, little realising not big and not clever to kick off on a friday night, so beating number two occured. They just cant take a slap and believe they are beaten so now pick on innocent people. Its just gone on from there, with Hull fans regularity bricking the coaches even to this season. Utter scum over there.

Our fans thrown out yesterday.. on 09:35 - Jan 13 with 4573 views | ParkinsGimp | Ah yes Leigh , they can be a little uppty , but unfortunately the likes of Warrington, St Helens and Widnes dont have football league teams to follow so they do attract that hooligan element at times, Warrington V Widnes is a nightmare. Usually at Rugby league, other fans around separate trouble makers and make them feel embarrassed. This isnt the case at Football unfortunately.

I recall watching Salford R.L.F.C. at Fev. around 25 years ago and feeling genuinely delighted to get in the car and get the **** out of the place! It was a truly terrifying experience, like footy in the 70's, in a place like that visitors stand out a mile because everybody knows one another ....( might be related to each other too!!)
