Hopefully James Beattie will be next.

It does seem like the end of an era somehow, even though we still have Ash and Leon on the pitch.

As disappointing as it is that it has come to this, the club comes first and neither results nor performances have been good enough for some time. All the best for the future Garry, definite JB. Hopefully we will improve under new leadership.

As our players got better our team got worse.

Had to be done but a sad day. Anyone taking pleasure from this needs to take a look at themselves.

Thanks, Garry. And good luck.

Absolutely.

I can't ever remember being this sad about a manager's departure before.

Totally agree.

Although quite a few players need to take a long hard look at themselves

I hadn't wanted him to go until last Saturday's shambolic performance. I just couldn't work out an explanation for such a dire performance. VERY few of the players seemed to make a 100% effort, one in particular didn't even make a 50% effort.

I could go on but there's no point. I believe now it was the right decision and i'd like to wish Garry best wishes for the rest of his career.

We can look at it as a sad day, or we can look at it as the day he preserved his legacy here. If he had stayed and we had gone down whimpering, no one would remember everything positive he did for the club. That block in the playoff final will live much longer in the memory than today.

Nearly 12 years at the club, three promotions - two as captain - and two cups wins as a player. Our second highest ever finish and a record PL points total as a manager. Definitely up there as one of our greatest servants.

As much as it's the right decision, it's a huge shame it's ended like this. Although I suppose the inevitable was this or him being poached by a bigger club.

Glad it's over for all concerned, sad for Garry but management is a cut throat game where players hold a lot of power. I hope he learns from this and goes on in management to be successful again. Thsnk you for your service to the club.

Sad day, all the best Garry after taking over at a very difficult time to keeping us out of the relegation scrap to finishing 8th last year. No doubt he'll get a good job elsewhere.

But unfortunately everyone can see that the team are not performing as they were for whatever reason.

Just hope we announce his replacement soon and hopefully it won't be Pascoe as some suggest.

Always a bad day when somebody who bleeds black and white leaves the club. We couldn't go on as we were though.

I wanted Biesla before the Monk appointment, would love him to come here now. Probably too strong a character for the board though.

Welcome back Brendan. The king is dead, long live the king.

agreed, it's one of them occasions when you'll always remember where you were when things like this happen, unfortunately, I just walked in to hear that load mouthed jock shouting the announcement on sky sports news.

maybe Garry should have accepted help when it was offered, chin up and thanks.

Yep very sad day, but it had to be done

Our saddest day for many a year - never before have I wanted a manager to pull through as much as I did him but with a heavy heart you'd have to admit it was looking very unlikely. One of us and he tried.

Social media is a strange sight at the moment. Now that he's been given the chop, there's a mass wave of people expressing their sadness and that they didn't want him to leave!

To be fair, I don't think I'm alone in saying I don't want him to leave but I know he has to.

I've been so desperate for him to turn it round but it isn't happening. It's sad to see this chapter of Swansea City history end like this.

Sad day but the correct decision.

Yes Darren.

If my memory serves me right you didn't feel that he was the right man for the job, unlike many on here have supported him all the way.

He has been a success but ultimately too early for him.

Sad but absolutely the right decision.

As it's taken until now to make an official announcement, I would assume Huw has shaken hands with GM's successor otherwise there is no reason why this didn't happen Saturday evening.

Good luck Garry. You'll do ok and won't be forgotten at SCFC for all the good stuff.

The hacks and ex-players having a field day on twitter.from Lee Dixons 'shocking' to Pougatch's nonsense...they just see us as little old swansea forgetting where we have come from and have no idea of the performances the supporters have had to witness...

Just goes to show how little they actually pay attention to us on a week by week basis. We haven't put a decent performance in since the first international break.

Not Swansea fans.

From other teams fans it's a different story.
