next manager... on 07:29 - Nov 4 with 2954 views | PlanetHonneywood | The reality of the situation, those running the club haven't got a clue and therein lies all the problems we've got and will have going forward. If we look back through our history, there is a certain type of chap that tends to succeed with us. He has: 1. Confidence in himself, which transmits to the players. 2. He has probably had a job early on that wasn't so successful, but he has learned from it and has or really wants to bounce back. 3. Knows how to scrap, cajole and, for the want of a simple turn of phrase, 'manage men'. 4. Want's to prove himself and has something to prove to others. 5. Has the balls and the ability to make decisions and be his own man. I'd suggest the above explains why we did well under Warnock, Olly, Gerry, Venables and Sexton. However, anyone coming in has a mountain of turd to wade through and a club that is known to be broken and poorly managed. Accordingly, whether anyone would touch us is hard to tell, certainly I don't think Brendan Rodgers would and he certainly fits the criteria above and has something big to prove after the way things ended at Liverpool. Of the crop of our former managers currently available, Warnock's time has come and gone. Olly would be more from the heart then the head and while I think he'd be up for it, I am not sure he would be a wise choice. Ainsworth would be a big gamble and we have no more chips to bet with. I fear, the extent of our situation is such, that the type of lunatic needed to take on this mess and to kick everything that needs kicking up the butt, might well be Pearson. He certainly conjurers up memories of similar appointments at similar times that turned out to be right man/time/situation in Olly and Warnock. That is what QPR need to focus on, appointing the right man for now and not someone who needs time to settle and learn the ropes. Someone who can come in, hit the ground running and take this arse of a club by the scruff of the neck from day one, shake it and then get it going. His demise with the Thais was understandable and for reasons we and the Malays might also find off-putting. But desperate times call for desperate measures and however you want to look at it, we're on the slide!

Warnock with Hill at the sharp end would (probably) steady the ship. Holloway, Tiny Tim or Paul Lambert would be a risk, IMHO. But… This Club will only improve when we find the next Sean Dyche/Gary Rowett/Alex Neil or similar, young, highly intelligent coaches whose performance is so high that club strategies simply write themselves. We can only wait. |
Why would a young intelligent up and coming manager come here?. TF completely shot himself in the foot once again by making a unnecessary statement about getting back to the premier league, that it would mean "the world " to him. Plus actually changing Ramseys remit before Ramsey even got started. If they stuck to the plan from the off ,played youth , consolidate etc etc, showed a bit of patience, a bit of nous ,we might have been a more appealing to an intelligent young manager looking for a good opportunity at a stable club with a long term vision. Depends whether you buy into the PR of Ramsey and Ferdinand. Well before TF said anything we were playing a slow and 30 something midfield and a fairly old back four. We had loaned out our two young right backs, and Doughty got some minutes for the first few weeks. Any auto promotion push is effectively over now. Survival is the one and only priority. Playoffs an unlikely bonus We are 12 points off the top two (the other two sides that came down with us) and 9 points of relegation. Last 10 is W2 D3 L5 and we've only beaten teams below us. As it is its just enough to scrape 52 points and thats with all our "big players" god forbid what happens when we weaken in January

We ain't going down ,no way.Give Chris a season, stick to the original remit and then get rid at the end of the season if we need to. At the very least it will give a minute message to any possible future manager that we are willing to give them half a season at least. |
If CR stays in place LR will soon have 10k empty seats for home games. Fans have had enough of paying good money to watch that dirge. If we go behind against PNE the atmosphere will be toxic.

Looks a fair point, but the minute Warnock walked through the door was also a few minutes after the Mittals had Fat Flavio escorted from the building by security and imposed Shasksena as Chief Exec. And of course, once Warnock had achieved promotion, Briatore and Ecclestone were back in charge, Shaksena was sacked, and the club reverted to a shambles.

John Terry? How you can compare the two is ridiculous. He isn't half as bad as people make out. Clough and Ferguson were far more aggressive especially to their players. Clearly Pearsons players liked and believed in him as results under his leadership prove. Plus I couldn't care less what other fans think as long as we have the right man in charge. We had a similar debate about Pullis, when Albion took him on they were below us,how things have changed. It's a no brained for me.

That was the most embarrassing thing about watching the Brentford game on TV. Towards the end Sir Les and Warnock were sitting in the dugout talking and Ramsey was standing up by the touchline talking to the subs or someone but what the hell were they all talking about and why were Les and Neil in the dugout anyway? It just looks like complete chaos from so many different angles.

Surely thats where Warnock should be, its where Francis is for Pulis. Les however should be in the stands keeping suitable distance

Up to a point. You could also have Jim Gregory as Chairman with access to Abramovich's bank account and the youth team facilities of Ajax, but if the manager/coach is not up to it then the team will still struggle on the pitch. In all the sack Ramsey/keep Ramsey arguments on here, I see very few arguing that CR is an outstanding manager. The debate is between those who think he's poor and those who think that stability and re-building are imperative. I'm in the second camp, and at the start of the season I'd also say it was too early to call Ramsey poor; specifically, to decide if Ramsey was not up to a job that will take a couple of years. The clock's ticking though. But it is possible for both sides to be right. We may not be ready for promotion, it may take two years or more to change the club (which is exactly what all the pundits on R5 were saying about Spurs just the other night, and I presume that Spurs are our model, given the personnel in charge.) But that doesn't necessarily mean that Ramsey is the right man. The debate has got sterile because people are arguing about two sepaarte problems. The league position and the actual results don't worry me. I'm OK with the squad, given what is realistic in terms of both signing players and getting rid of the likes of Traore. Performances are a problem though and the particular players being selected from the squad worry me more but even there I wonder how many of those who were crying out for Sandro in for Henry realistically think Sandro is any sort of long-term (i.e. more than 90 minutes) option. What I don't get is a clear idea of where CR thinks he's going. (Hoilett as a a long-term option? Surely not for God's sake.) Or the sense that he's got a grip, that the players are behind him, and the Board and other staff are a united front. A straight-jacket and gag for the chairman might be a start. Arguably these are things that Ferdinand as DoF should be leading on. It ain't just about the manager. But he needs to be doing his job.

Well it seems to me as though you're saying the end justifies the means. But to me it's all about the means. We're never gonna be Premier league champions so why continue to compromise on the other stuff that I like about QPR. I'd rather have Charlie Austin than Diego Costa, I'd rather have Clint Hill than John Terry, I'd rather have Michael Doughty than Joey Barton and I'd rather have Chris, Les and Neil than Nigel Pearson, Jose Mourinho or Sam Allardyce even if the latter in all examples are more effective.

Insanity. n. mental illness of such a severe nature that a person cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, cannot conduct her/his affairs due to psychosis, or is subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior. That covers almost everyone in football.

In the final 12 months where he consistently brought the game into disrepute, where he was sacked then unsacked a couple of times. The board found him impossible to work with before finally axing him although to be fair to him (!) his son's involvement in a racist sex filming incident may also have been a factor.
