I'd sign any petition to save any football ground in these circumstances.
I appreciate others won't. And, I knew full well that I'd get a sketchy response on here. I just think some things are bigger than rivalry etc. But the option is there to sign or not to sign.

I lived in Stockport for a year, and as well as visiting EP a few times with Barnsley (some great wins there actually) I did take in a few of their games at the time. | | | |

Council's should not get involved in football, they should concentrate on social services, education, housing etc... Council should not be used to bail out football clubs that have owners who have chosen dump their brains in the waste paper basket prior to entering the board room plunging them into deeper debt chasing glory that is unsustainable.
Looks like Cambridge Utd will be following the Stockport blue print -Luke Berry, cost £75k to be bought back from Barnsley and a 4 year contract on top of the purchases and multi year contracts already done this close season. But they are not taking into account the Man U effect of last season - apparently.
We need to see more clubs go to the wall, not get bailed out, kicked down several tiers and then and only then will a few clubs learn. | | | |

More wind ups than a clockwork toy you Whitey. Hardly any on here will have much time for Stockport and its nowt to do with being all Royston Vasey. Imagine putting Barnsley in our position and swap Stockport for Sheffield Utd, they get promoted at Wembley at your expense then next season go into meltdown having massively overspent to get promotion - you'd have tonnes of sympathy right? |  |

I can't be doing with Stockport, in fact I dislike them more than bury which is saying something.
I remember the night we beat them to secure our Football League status, they bust a gut to send us down in to the non- league and where gutted after the game, that came straight from the horses mouth (ex Dale and Stockport player).
Look at the fortunes of both clubs now. I still look for their result every Saturday to ensure their misery continues. |  | | |

They are one of numerous clubs who have won promotion by 'diddling' every other club in that particular league. Diddling is another word for cheating.
Spending money which they obviously never had, to pay over inflated wages/ signing on fees/ transfer fees to players who were obviously a cut above the calibre of player they would ordinarily be able to afford.
You can spot the Clubs who use this modus operandi from a mile away, does it ring any bells??
You can flower it up however you want but the bottom line is it's cheating and the supporters of those clubs who decide to go down that route turn a blind eye to it, so I have no sympathy for Stockport or their fans. [Post edited 22 Jun 2015 20:00]
