I totally agree. We were utter shyt last night. The fact is that, though, this board is full of the same shytty threads, whoever is in charge, and however we play.

You obviously weren't watching closely enough, 3 shots on target means he must have saved them, the fact that they weren't difficult saves says it all.

Most of our fans on 11:33 - Feb 12 by Jokeren1943 | I heard 2 years ago a talk about Dortmund playing football. One of the key ideas about their style of play was to have many players in the box when the backs or wingers were kicking the ball in there (simply because the chance of scoring a goal would be much bigger). If you see Swanseas present style, the central midfielders, wings and backs waaay to rarely enters the box. Swansea just play a long ball and leave Gomis on his own. The only time Swansea has more then 1 player in there (Gomis) is at set pieces. [Post edited 12 Feb 2015 11:35]

I agree to some extent and that is the usual problem of the wingers speed outstipping the support or the long ball being played to Gomis who is not Bony.

One was a pass to the keeper from the ball going out of play for an injury by Shelvey ! It is a shot on goal but a gentlemanly pass back. One was a Routledge stumble forwards from a Taylor cross where he spent too long bumbling on the ball. One was a Gomis shot second half, straight at the keeper. That was it. Are you being serious? Did you watch the game or just look at the stats? If you class any of them as shots then no wonder you think we played well.

you are forgetting that swirling, curling effort from Dyer when he kicked the ball at their goalkeeper at roughly the same velocity as my 5 year old nephew displayed in the garden last weekend.
Most of our fans on 13:56 - Feb 12 with 1667 views | snork44 | We were awful last night, but let's have some perspective here. I saw the Hull v Villa game on Tuesday night it was a dire match and Villa wouldn't have scored if the Hull keeper sat on the goalline reading the Sun, as a result Villa sacked the mumbling sweatie. There is gash like Villa,QPR and Leicester and the mid table teams like us that have inconsistent runs and then pull off a surprise and beat the top teams. Remember we are still ninth and not nineteenth. The time for revisionism is at the end of the season and not now. All this crap about Monks tactics and whether we should have gone for Clement or Koeman is just that just pure crap.

Most of our fans on 15:42 - Feb 12 with 1641 views | jacksfullaces | maybe people should agree on what is a reasonable period to evaluate results and performances over: 5/10/15/20 games? and what is a 'reasonable' poor run of results for a mid/lower table premier league team? that might help with perspective - it won't help those who will always be frustrated when we don't perform/win consistently though, which I appreciate can make some people very irate. emotive thing is football, that's why we love it. I do find it peculiar though that only back in Oct/Nov our above average run led to people predicting 5/5 wins or equivalent in forthcoming matches whilst our below average run of late has led to fears of club implosion. surely, as ever, the actual case is somewhere in between. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think the 3 shots were Dyer? In the first half a kind of bobbly half volley after a corner or free kick had been half cleared, Dyers dribbler in the second half and Gomis right at the end. They were all on target, but none of them would have troubled me, let alone Foster. All were from just outside the box. The 65% is a bit of a false comfort as well, because with 2/3 of possession, we didn't look like breaking down their defence once.

Most of our fans on 09:09 - Feb 12 by jack247 | I'm not sure if this a serious thread or not. We have played like a relegation team the last 6 games West Ham - lucky to scrape a point at home, West Ham were pretty limited but the better team Blackburn - ok we played most of the game with 10, but they are an average Championship team who rested players. Chelsea - dont expect much from that, but they humiliated us. At least we gave them a scare at Stamford Bridge Southampton - got very, very lucky. Parked the bus for an hour. In fairness, we were Impressive last 20 minutes, but didn't deserve the win. Sunderland - probably should have edged it, but we should be beating teams like that fairly comfortably. West Brom - soundly beaten by a fairly limited team. We will be fine this season, but unless Gomis really shapes up or we find a suitable replacement for Bony, next season is going to be very tough. |
That's basically the way I see it. We are ok this season, but can see next season being the telling one. Going to be a struggle I think.

unless of course we play a bit better in our next 6 games. and also maybe worth seeing what we do in the 6 after that. if we are less than a point a game over 18 matches then I suspect you might be right - next season will be a bit of a struggle, a bit like last season, and much of our first season.

Your can only play with the cards your dealt with and unfortunately we have 3or4 players that are championship material.fact.

Yes, I was at the game and I've seen us play a lot worse (and a lot better) during our time in the Premier League (not to mention many of the pre-top flight years). That's why I used the word PERSPECTIVE

Most of our fans on 08:48 - Feb 12 by Andy1300 | And there you have it. If people actually looked at our performances of late they would see just what is happening. Apart from a wonder goal against the saints we have been Shiite, no pace, cutting edge or threat in the final third. It's awful to watch and Monk isn't doing anything about it, or is not capable of doing anything about it. Fickle fans or just fans that see it how it is? Even monk says we were not good enough and are going backwards! |
totally agree we're not fickle fans but just seeing it as it is. playing the swansea way has gone and we seem to be more concerned about how the other team will play. monk stated in the press after the southampton win that he has concentrated on the defence side of things this season its ok to say that after a defensive performance which resulted in a lucky win. so many times this year we have conceded soft goals. i would prefer us going back to the way we played in our first premiership season. i used to love the way we played. even if we slipped up the football was great. people said we had no plan B, i dont think we needed one, (remember wolves at home) we stayed up at a canter in the end. id love us to get back to playing that way. some people may disagree. its now four years in and the squad we came up with was a championship squad, now we're able to buy very good (if not brilliant) premiership players. im sure the latest recruits would love to play the swansea way and would take it on to another level. ok being an attacking, defending or a bit of both team is open for question. but id love to see us going back to THE SWANSEA WAY.
