| News Comment | Fraser Forster To Fight For Place at 19:20:18
Fraser is one of the best in the Prem - except with his feet. That may be a problem under Ralph. However I think he will become first choice. |
| News Comment | Saints At Bournemouth The Verdict at 21:15:30
Unpopular opinion - Vestergaard was an important reason we didn’t concede in the second half. He gave the ball away a lot bit his defending was impressive against their aerial bombardment. |
| News Comment | Hasenhuttl Trying To Avoid Unwanted Record At Home at 17:22:01
It is ridiculous to blame the fans for the awful home record this year, following a succession of very bad home records in previous years. It is amazing that we still have fans loyal enough to attend home matches - if we don’t concede in the first attack the opposition has (which we usually do), we take the lead and then concede late goals. The fans don’t cause any of these defensive errors, do they? |
| News Comment | Board Shake Up Needed at 12:41:47
The owners do not pick players completely out of position and make stupid substitutions every week. This is down to the management and coaches, which have been awful since Rohl left. |
| News Comment | Saints Scapegoats Show They Have Fight at 13:13:48
Can you please stop lecturing the fans about how to behave? We have had 4 miserable seasons, and more recently (I think) two wins in the last 16 Premiership games under Ralph. What do you expect us to do? Celebrate? |
| News Comment | Saints V Bournemouth The Verdict at 11:30:23
Nick has obviously been dead right for the last 2 seasons about the centre backs. However, the last few games have also demonstrated that we lack a defensive organiser with pace in midfield. It is far too easy to break from deep against us. Romeu is ok to break up play when the midfield is congested, but does not have the pace, positioning or awareness to block counter attacks starting from deep. JWP also lacks defensive pace and is a far better player going forward. This is one of the reasons why the centre backs look so bad. |
| News Comment | Saints At Manchester United The Verdict at 13:11:26
We played well but as long as we keep conceding very late goals, we will stay near the bottom. Ralph said the same thing on Saturday. It is soul destroying to be a Saints fan and watch them lose the number of points to very late goals that we have done in the last 3 years. |
| News Comment | Is Mario Lemina About To Leave ? at 11:24:54
Drinkwater is more reliable than Lemina though not more talented. Over a full season he would be a really good option. Overall I think we now have good cover in every position except right back, depending on what we do with Reed. However, do we have any real proven top PL quality? Not sure. |
| News Comment | 2017/18 Season Review - Fraser Forster at 13:34:32
It is completely crazy to compare these two keepers on current and recent form. Forster has been a good shot stopper in his time, but since his injury he has been completely immobile, poor with his distribution on the ground, vulnerable on near post or low shots and contributes nothing in the air. McCarthy has a far stronger all round game. Oh, and we won't get £10m if we sell Forster. |
| News Comment | Alex McCarthy Wins Daily Echo Player Of The Year at 11:27:46
I think McCarthy’s half season is up there with the best performances ever by a Saints keeper - the best since 1960 have been Shilton, Niemi and Forster under Koeman. Now McCarthy joins them. |
| News Comment | Saints At Newcastle United The Verdict at 12:11:45
We are short of one or two Prem-level centre backs and one or two proven goal scorers! That is four very expensive players, while we have been spending peanuts. No manager can overcome that. |
| News Comment | Targett Blossoming At Fulham at 18:05:31
A few of his games under Koeman were really superb, but then he seemed to lose confidence. He deserves another chance with us. I do have some doubts about his defensive abilities though. |
