Using a stadium to bring in non-matchday income isn't easy. In London there's such a plethora of venues covering every conceivable activity the competition is extremely fierce.
Didn't Brentford decide not to go down that route and simply built a football stadium for football?
We deserved nothing today. Didn't start playing until Dunne scored and then mainly because Pompey dropped to defend their lead. Too many bad performances and little cohesion or rhythm. We can play so much better than that, and I'm sure we will in the games coming up.
Thanks for posting, Gloucs. Things are improving but with the shareholders ÂŁ2m per month still very much needed to keep us solvent, we're still way short of being able to stand on our own two feet. But, I guess that's just football today.
Your last comment is an interesting one. If people did complain about the salt mashes disappearing when the docks were built, they had a point. Today salt marshes are recognised as vital for bird life, as much needed carbon sinks, plus protection against flooding and coastal erosion. These issues would not have been well understood 200 years ago, but they are today.
