If only his dad had used a rubber. Edit- is Hoos the one we like? I’m thinking of Mike Rigg. [Post edited 24 Feb 21:30]

The bloke is more intelligent and successful than I’ll ever be but I’ve talked about the cost-benefit analysis of tiny savings where I work or just generally pissing employees off for a marginal, if any, initial gain when it comes to things like being in the office more just to sit on the same Teams call with the same person in a different office somewhere in the world. All these little things that make working conditions marginally worse eventually mean people leave and there’s a cost to that in expertise and just the cost of recruiting a replacement. Finding that replacement is harder as it’s a known toxic environment with little security. Those made redundant will receive however much as their package to go. Employee stress goes up and the sickness/loss of productivity that comes with that. But a football club is unique. These little things will filter to the playing staff and management and creates disharmony which if it costs them a single position in the table outweighs Jim’s lunch saving by £1.5m. Some of these people will know the players personally and it affects those players as seeing a colleague you like at your work being mistreated does. If one single player is off it as a result for a while and their worth goes down by a few million if not more then again you’ve outweighed that saving. Also when it comes to recruitment at a football club, they probably get away with low wages as people want to be there just as I’d work for a bit less if there was a job at QPR. That’ll be lost eventually. The bloke sounds absolutely mental. Hope it ends in even worse failure than it seems to be heading for. |

I think perhaps Marti has got either a tad overconfident about the ability of this team or took the view we have to go on a great run to get playoffs so took a risk which backfired. Here, at Millwall, at Derby etc. particularly you simply have to earn the right to play. Win close to your share of the battles, work as hard as them, second balls etc. and the quality of Chair and Saito and then Yang ought to win you the game or certainly guarantee a point. It’s not sexy but Championship football rarely is. The first goal is clearly a great finish but the multiple errors to get them into that position would have shamed a Sunday league side. The second is a farce. They should have had another in that early part of the second half. Portsmouth were excellent at the basics and extremely limited beyond that but without the first bit you aren’t winning many games hence the two we’ve lost to them. Bishop offered a presence Frey didn’t, Hayden smashed people and we were happy to let a young ref have a lovely day of it again while he did so, Dozzell has found his niche trying to kick the ball towards the corner flag. Basics, basics, basics and a clear game plan even if a bit crude but beats the no plan at all we appeared to not have. Even if you win those battles, which we didn’t, who of Field and Varane is going to find the pass? Thought the two of them were horrific. Chair did what Chair often does and dropped deeper and deeper to the point he was having no meaningful impact to try and compensate. Not his fault IMO. Cook, much as I love him, seems to be getting a month older every week. I hope once any now even slimmer hope of playoffs is gone, most likely with eight or nine games left, we use the time to really think about who we need next season. Maybe he’ll come good again and I really do rate the bloke but it’s a concern more for next year now than this. [Post edited 23 Feb 9:01]

I think you answered your own question before you asked it. |

Turned up, played like tarts, far too nice, created virtually nothing. More or less covers it. |

I’d keep an eye out on Twitter and the QPR Tickets Facebook group tomorrow morning. Bound to be a few floating around. Beware of scammers. We’re big time now. |

I fancy Eustace’s chances of getting them out of it just about but Roofe hasn’t played for the best part of a year and did very little in a pub league for two years before that. Fair enough it’s low risk and probably not big money but I’d be really surprised if he contributes much. Perhaps the thinking is it’ll take a while to get up to speed but it’s worth it if he can bang a couple in in the final month. |

I’d say the odds are in your favour as it’s a fairly unappealing TV fixture but the ‘football is for the fans’ guys are giving four weeks’ notice so not for another month or so I believe. Still patiently waiting for the final day of the season to be confirmed. |

They do look poor and I’d be worried but any team down there getting two points per game from now (none of them will) is staying up with games to spare. |

Plymouth v Cardiff on Saturday too. They’ve got Hull away straight after the cup tie at City too. Feel they need results in those given the home games they have left. |

It’s also the Rugby League ‘Magic Weekend’ in Newcastle along with the bank hol so our idea to do a couple of nights in Newcastle are looking unlikely given I could do a nice week in Spain for the same price. |

Yeah. I think the last game is now exempt from the 3pm blackout unless I imagined that. Still even if that is the case, they’ll want to move some leagues to not be all on at the same time and ours is the one they’ll want to clash least with the Prem. If it is 12:30 or 5:30 or whatever then fine but would be quite nice with expensive trains to have a tiny bit of communication from our EFL overlords. |

Watford have a very kind run coming up now off the back of facing Boro at the right time. They’re soft as anything as we know but can imagine them being right up there in a few weeks if their better players have decided they fancy it. |

Gives me hope we have the best teams at home. If we’re in with any sort of a shout still those will be a hell of an atmosphere no matter what time Sky bless us with to kick off. I’ve had a vision we beat Sunderland to cost them promotion and get sixth and thus get to return there a mere ten days later. |

It’s optimistic but still realistic hence it’s a 33/1 shot. To be in the mix at all at this point is an achievement. The dream may be dead in a couple of weeks or it may suddenly be more of a 10% chance than 3%. The goal difference probably means we need 70 points. I’ve seen worse 33/1 shots. |

Nobody appears to know. I’ve seen it listed on the club site and elsewhere at 3 but they changed it in late March last season which is insane. Chances are it gets moved but why it can’t be announced months in advance is anyone’s guess. Just total contempt for supporters. |

I don’t doubt the guy has ability. Just think he’s physically weak and too many of our goals come down his side and often not getting tight enough to his opponent. Don’t hate the bloke, just an opinion. It was a good ball for Edwards and a good ball across on Tuesday. A few more like those and more than a few less like the majority of his corners and we’re rolling. |
