Dibling has attributes as an attacking player but is poor defensively.

Nowadays players have to do their bit against the ball as well as with the ball and currently Dibling doesnt measure up in the formrt capacity and that lessens his value

Brilliant song to be used in such dire times.

Wonder if a Vera Lynn look a like do do a rendition with the Saints Band pre match.

Agree with this.

Our scouting on a value for money basis has been atrocious

Does Juric want to be here next season?
at 19:32 17 Feb 2025

Normally the hotel that the Saints use is Harbour Hotel at Ocean Village.

Not too bad but accept the location could be bettered.

I think a friend of Lucy Pinder is helping out.

It all seem to happen after we lost 4-0 at Villa Park.

Didnt SR take over around that time?

Pompey fans reckon that back in the day Shoemakers from Northamptonshire undercut footwear products made in the Royal Navy Yard in Pompey.
The errant shoemakers were represented by the Consolidated Union of Northamptonshire
Tanners and Shoemakers hence the acronym given to Northampton Town supporters

Are Saints So Hard Up
at 10:16 14 Feb 2025

Well said Nick
I look back to the days when I wanted a Saints top as a nipper, for my birthday
My Mum took me to Toomers in London Road and the only football shirt available was in Arsenal colours
This was OK as it was red & white.
The only other Saints shirt I have bought was a retro 1950 style for when we went to Milan.

I wonder how many fellow season ticket holders like me now look forward to a game at SMS as some sort of punishment to be endured.

Who Killed The Magic Of The FA Cup for Southampton
at 14:35 7 Feb 2025

I agree with all comments about playing semi finals at neutral grounds and maintaining Wembley for 'special occasions'
I think the cost of the new Wembley was so great that every opportunity had to be looked at to gain revenue to the detriment of most fans enjoyment.

Southampton FC Payroll 2024-2025
at 10:48 3 Feb 2025

I cant see THB 'only' being on £7.5k a week when he cost the club £20m in transfer fee.

It is also surprising to see that KWP is on relatively low wages which apparently is correct.

I am surprised he has not moved on before his contract runs out but guess he will negotiate a much better contract when he leaves for free at the end of the season.

I wonder if most/all of the players have to take a 50% reduction in their wages next year?

It would also be interesting to learn if the club had to pay a promotion bonus when the club was promoted

Burnley next game
at 17:51 2 Feb 2025

What's the general though on the forthcoming FA Cup game?

I bought my ticket prior to the Ipswich win and wonder if a few minds have been changed as a consequence of the result?

I guess the crowd is not going to be more than 15,000 but whilst a poor turnout perhaps those who attend will be true supporters of the team

It is worth noting that we played Swansea soon after their 4-0 thrashing by our friends down the road and now we face Burnley the week after a 0-0 draw at Fratton.

Burnley have a fantastic defensive record and their 'keeper James Trafford has been in top form for them.

A solid defence versus a poor attacking team so another 0-0?

We went through something similar when Rangers came to town in a nondescript cup competition (Texaco Cup?) about 50 years ago.

As a long standing Saints fan I am truly amazed how loyal our fans have been through this shit show of a season.
I think there is a positive hangover from last season and it will be interesting to see if a decent level of interest is maintained next season.
To be fair though I think we are not alone in the level of support.
Many clubs are seeing seeing decent attendances even if they are not doing too well.
It is interesting to look back about 40 years when hooliganism was rife and stadia were unsafe and old fashioned.
Some of the crowd figures then were significantly lower than they are now.

Newcastle Game Matchday Thread
at 20:32 26 Jan 2025

Totally outplayed yesterday and we only had one shot of any note - from Harwood Bellis (overhead kick) - whilst Newcastle had several and we were fortunate not to concede a penalty in the second half.
In my many years supporting Saints I have never seen such a difference in class between us and other clubs in the League we were playing in.
