Having a chat with a few of the lads at HT yesterday & the subject of the Willbutts stand came up. It was open yesterday for less than 200 Kidderminster fans. Surely they could have been accommodated in the end block of the Pearl st? For next season a couple of ideas were floated- 1- close the Pearl st completely next season. Existing season ticket holders could transfer into the main stand for a 1 season discounted price or obviously transfer to the Sandy if they wished. Make the Willbutts half home / half away with pay on the day only for home fans so the stand could be altered if there was a large away following 2- close the Willbutts completely & have a similar arrangement as above put in place for the Pearl st stand. Basically the consensus was that with our crowds & away followings in this league 4 stands open just isn’t necessary (unless playing the Biffos of course). Thoughts?
And not just the potential takeover shenanigans. Lionel Messi is to leave Barcelona as they’ve got to cut costs & can’t afford his wages. Come on messrs Curran & Rose, put your “money” where your mouth is… As an aside, has he ever played left back?
The Mail reports that “several” clubs in the EFL have been placed under a transfer embargo. Clubs that have taken out a bridging loan from the EFL will not be allowed to sign players until the loans have been repaid. No details of which clubs are affected but the number of clubs involved is “less than 10”.
BBC sport reports prem league proposals for potential financial bailout with strings attached. Don’t think it’ll affect Dale too much but can see some prem & championship clubs being extremely unhappy. Sorry can’t post a link if anyone else is able to?
Don’t plan that trip to the local just yet. Sky news reporting that Rochdale is in the top 4 areas in England for coronavirus cases due to a spike in infections (numbers infected per 100000 people). Top 4- Leicester (already locked down), Bradford, Barnsley & us. Govt actively considering local lockdown measures unless there’s an improvement. Aaargh!!!
