I saw on FB that the crown and sceptre is closing for 4 weeks in April for a makeover. You’re welcome to come and join us in the White Horse, but I don’t think they sell Peroni. And no food unless you fancy a meal deal next door in Tesco. With the amount of loyalty points you would’ve got on Saturday, you might get it free.

Waiting until the season's over, jolly decent of them. Now, what will they turn it into?

Yeh hopefully a sympathetic makeover, and good news that Fullers are spending money on it which suggests they’re not gonna close it, but we’re homeless for Cardiff and Bristol City.

Are there any decent eating and drinking pubs in Shepherd’s Bush these days?

Adelaide has gone downhill on the eating side of things since Covid, was a good pub for both prior to that.

Broadcaster foods reasonable but bit of a non pub given its small choice of beer, even witnessed a single file queue at the bar there, which is an absolute no-no.

A number of decent drinking pubs admittedly but a decent combo getting harder to find.

Only a wee bit further, but the Eagle and the orchard on Askew Rd are nice pubs. Eagle quite pricey, but that just seems to be the norm these days

You should have a big say in the style of the makeover Clive as you and the LFW crew have funded most of it!

Kind of surprised they didn't just wait a few weeks and start the work in May.

Me too - let's hope that Rapid Ranger and the Rs and Bush history photos don't disappear.

On 14th August it's 130 years since the C&S opened. A Fuller's pub then and a Fuller's pub now. Intriguingly the pub had been built in 1878 but it took 17 years and 16 attempts to obtain a license.

On 24th April 1976 the Rangers players pulled pints in the pub for fans after the Leeds United home match that saw the club finish top of the First Division. This was repeated 6 years later after the Rs drew 1.1 with Spurs in the FA Cup final on 22nd May 1982.

As featured in the classic BBC TV series "The Boys from the Bush". A classic Rangers boozer!

Odd not to do it in the close season.

Been going there for over 40 years now for Rangers games, other pubs don’t feel the same. There was that weird period in the early 2000s when they banned football fans, that didn’t last long.

What’s everyone’s alternatives then? Probably The Adelaide for us

The food in the defectors weld is decent if a bit pricey, you can reserve tables in there.

The Eagle is like a creche, so many feral kids in the garden when the weather is nice. Not a place for drinkers. The Orchard on the other hand... Glad they turned it back into a pub after its brief spell pushing it as a wine bar but without actually redoing any of the interior, just sticking a couple fridges and a wine rack in.
