Cook? on 15:55 - Dec 23 with 5094 views | loftupper | I thought I saw mention of it being a soft tissue injury? Maybe something Cifuentes said hoping to be true though. If true then 6 weeks, if not then no idea

With Varane playing so well in the CDM area with Field, two natural fullbacks in Paal and Ashby, and Dunne & Morrison in good form, hopefully not the sizeable hole it would have been a month or so ago. Tough away games coming, hopefully Chairs back starting as he's the most likely outball and holds possession in the oppositions half which we need to do more of.

Cook? on 18:07 - Dec 23 with 4538 views | GaryHaddock | Cifuentes said he did not know the severity of Cook's injury, with his skipper due to have a scan on Sunday. "That's the only negative part - that we got another injury," he said. "I don't want to play doctor. Let's see the test. He felt an acute pain. "It seems it's the sole – a soft-tissue issue. We need to make some tests. I've spoken with him and we're not sure if it's going to be a big one or not, but he was in some pain." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cvgx81nx5xdo | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Cook? on 02:55 - Dec 24 with 3508 views | joolsyp | Looked achilles-related to me (can sympathise as I've recently ruptured mine) but if Marti says soft tissue then I'm thinking plantar fascia tear which would mean 3-6 months rather than a torn achilles which could be a lot longer. Fingers crossed it will be neither of these but it didn't look good.

Like we mentioned before Cook was not going down that hard unless something snapped and Marti was only guessing I suspect. If he had the scan on Sunday they already know so no news is bad news in this case I suspect . Either way he will be out for a while and his leadership will be badly missed plus his ability to block goalbound shots is second to none and has saved us multiple times . We need JCS back to his best right away he can fill that role and he is not afraid to bark at officials and opposing players which we need badly
Cook? on 08:32 - Dec 24 with 3171 views | Rsole | I don’t think he’s the type of player that needs two people supporting him to leave the pitch unless it’s serious and need some decent recovery time. He can probably concentrate on the landlord duties for a while - maybe even a guest shift at the Saracens Head is on the cards. It does give Morrison some development time alongside JCS (potentially), which you would hope is the future pairing plan. I think he’s naturally right sided so theoretically, it’s his better position (much better than working on current home deliveries and turning those pesky computers on and off repeatedly ahem). Let’s just hope JCS stays fit now, although deep down we know he probably won’t sustain as long as Cook has to date. Whilst I appreciate Fox’s effort and his attitude, I suspect he’s neither the longer term plan or the right mentor/partner.

Cook? on 11:51 - Dec 24 with 2677 views | Philothesuperhoop | Just like Joolsyp, I’ve also ruptured my Achilles this year. It is very painful and takes at least a year to recover from. As soon as he went down I said that is what he’d done. It’s the kind of thing that just snaps as you sprint. What I don’t understand is that it is one of the simplest injuries to diagnose. You simply lay the person down and then squeeze the calf. The foot moves if the Achilles is attached and doesn’t if it has ruptured. Our physios would have known within a few minutes of getting him back into the changing room. If he has an Achilles rupture I doubt he’ll play for us again….or possibly ever. He wouldn’t be fit to play until Feb ‘26 at the earliest. I know from personal experience. We have to hope that the odd comms about it means that it is something else. Fingers crossed. He posted a Tweet after the game but he’s also radio silent now…so I fear the worst.
Cook? on 12:31 - Dec 24 with 2478 views | Tonto | Thought Fox did well in his absence. He isn't Cook and Preston were poor, but it will be interesting if Fox retains his place or JCS comes straight back in.

Agree about the risk to SC's career, Philo, but it need not be quite as bad. Didn't Ebere Eze rupture an Achilles when he joined Crystal Palace?

Cook? on 12:52 - Dec 24 with 2256 views | DaBurgh | Plantar fascia injury. Looked it up on the Mayo clinic website. It is an injury to the band of tissue at the bottom of the foot that runs from the heel to the toes. Doesn't seem to be a tear in which case the recovery time is 6 to 8 weeks according to the website.

It is one nasty injury. It came on suddenly on my way home from work on the tube about 5 years back, literally out of nowhere and I could not put weight on my right foot and had to ask to sit down on a crowded train. Mrs had to collect me from the station. Hopefully, a fit, professional footballer with youth on their side and excellent physio access 7 days a week will mean he will recover quicker than I did as we will need him for the run in.

I've done that myself a few years back. Unbelievably painful. Couldn't put that foot down for a few months. Wishing him better but... it does get better.

Cook? on 13:11 - Dec 24 with 2073 views | Lblock | From my experience (limited and I’m no pro!!!!) that’s 3 to 6 months out Real kicker that Also, looking at when his contract expires we may never see him lead the team out again if worse case is where it falls. Sending my absolute best to the man and he’ll be tough to replace even short to medium term

I thought he'd done his achilles and that would be a career ender, this sounds more positive, might not see him for a few months but he should recover
