Swansea finished above Sunderland last season by two or three places. Sunderland e were every bit as Swansea were today. From recollection they were coached by Tony Mowbray.

They were going through a rejuvenation process and bringing in new players. They have been patient and it is playing dividends.

One hopes Swansea is doing the same.

Swansea spent 7 consecutive years in the top flight. We were an established top flight club and Mr Scudamore used Swansea as an example to other clubs as we were so well run.

Over last 8 years with the previous owners we should have achieved much more than what we have actually done.
Williams needs to be given time but he also needs to accept support from around the club as he just doesn't have the experience at this level.

They were bigger and stronger than us. What disturbs me most was that they were way fitter than us and that is inexcusable.

Some players will always have better engines than others but you're right. To see it so often, other teams finishing so strongly when so many of our players look worn out.

We need a good conditioning coach, someone who will get the players properly fit before the season starts.

Frankly,I think we need a sports psychologist as we are mentally weak.
If it dawn to the players and not Williams then they need help

Get Conner Roberts back next season on a free and make him captain. He can bring his frisbee.

I don’t think it’s that bad - but physically tired players become mentally tired and make bad judgements.

I remember how coopers teams were both mentally and physically strong - it hurts to see our players being pushed around by teams like Sunderland, Leeds and to an extent Cardiff too

As has been pointed out trying to find the balance between attacking effectively and defending properly is a balancing act that hasn't been reached as often as us fans would like.
The question is do we give Williams more time than two half seasons to work that out what his team is capable of.and how to mould that team he has be in charge of after a year with a number of ins and outs and injuries and a lot inexperienced at cha.pionship level.

Potter had a year/season in which he had to turn the fortunes of the team around, who knows what would have happened if he had not been given a chance to manage in the Prem.
Cooper almost got the balance right in the first year built on Potter's progress, almost making the Premiership the following but did the club signings help him achieve that balance not quite. But he had two seasons .

Martin also had two seasons did he do any better to get the balance right we all know the answer
Potter moved on, Cooper and Martin unable to get success with us with the players at his disposal managed to achieve the goal we wanted but with better players?

Happy to give William's more time to bring on his players inexperienced players on, he has to because the likes of Allen and Naughton cannot be the future in playing staff terms.

Have we seen improvements in players this season I think so but we have seen some bad habit picked up.
He has tried using Key in the midfield to try and get a foothold in the midfield, add Tymon being asked to get down the wing as often as he can is leaving us short at the back and we have ended up playing 3 there, with opposition wingers attacking down the flanks and the space left for them is just nuts especially when we are ahead.

You could say William's has had more than a year here given his time here with Martin but not in charge of the squad, just hope these slip ups doesn't demoralise the squad as the previous seasons leading to relegation and lack of success to return has affected the fanbase.

William's team's soft centre has been found too often and needs to be sorted but I think he needs to be given time.

It's not defending him but I think we have had a good season. Budget wise we nowhere near the top 6. Before the season started I would of taken where we are in the league. Look at Cardiff and Hull there was a bit of hype about them pre season. We all want us to win every game but sadly that is not going to happen on our size budget.

Try telling that to the doom mongering PL fans, you are wasting your time mate.

Most of us are realists there are a few who will never be happy and there are those who have their heads in the clouds and see no wrong.

I am dead centre, I appreciated the PL years and now with the finances the way they are I think like you, we are punching above our weight.

I'm hoping and praying that the new regime will see that we aren't far off a side who will challenge for a play off place and will back williams, if he does get backed then we will be a real good side who will be there or thereabouts, if after being backed and he fails that's no problem, we can't all get promoted, we will have another crack.

Some people need to chill out and smell the coffee.

We have had Eom back and others like Vipotnik, Pearl-Harris and Bianchini are coming on well, Cullen is hitting the back of the net and we are now able to open teams up.

But we really need to nail down how we preform under pressure and ensure the "transition" area of play is sorted so we don't shoot ourselves in the foot so often especially against the so called better teams.
We were a match for Sunderland in the first twenty but did we switch off and make the same mistakes to concede their first goal. It needs to be sorted.

You can have the best engine in the world but if you make them work too hard all the time something has to give. I have a couple of hamstrings that could testify to that.

The worst thing is when you don't get time to rest after lung busting runs.I really don't like seeing our centre forward chasing down every ball across the back line, a more controlled team approach is needed, yes when a bad pass is made to a defender or the goalie is obviously not happy with the ball at his feet then a lone press can work but not when defenders are fully in control best lull them into a false sense of security then get the press right it seems to work against us.

What is annoying is that we really can play and be effective at that .

We had the same problem under Martin but surprisingly that didn't seem to be a problem when it "really" mattered for example against Cardiff or at the end of that second season.
Change of style or players upping their game and playing to the best of their ability?

I think our manager is doing ok, I thought the Swans were likely to struggle more than they have up to this point in the season, so I think he is doing ok, it will be interesting to see how we go next season after he has a summer transfer window.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

It was a change in style, shame he didn't make that change 10 games sooner.

What isn't helping williams out is him having to give certain key players too many minutes, the bench is p!ss weak, therefore our stronger players are gettimg replaced like for like, our stronger players arent being rotated, cabango and darling are two of several, they are looking tired and are starting to make mistakes.

I think bringing in more players from u21 level has to be tried. Man of the match at West Ham v Bournemouth this week was a19 year old . If you are good enough you are old enough. Even training with the first team has to improve strength / physicality .
Interesting listening to UTD's new manager speaking after the City match . He left out Rashford and Garnacho simply because others had trained better this week and were included instead. The message was that they were not bad players and it was nothing to do with discipline but having looked closely at the squad in training he made the decision.
Each and every week the slate is wiped clean and every player starts from a default position - very clever management.
Obviously he is sending out the message that the team gets picked on how well you train during the week. This will have the subtle affect of raising standards at training sessions - a clever move by the new boss. Also it provides motivation for lesser lights work hard and you are in with a chance of team selection. It will also weed out the less committed.
Utd obviously have the luxury of a large squad unlike ours but by bringing in more u 21 players the " load " on the regular players can be eased a little especially where games come thick and fast it will provide fresh competition in training and help prevent players becoming jaded and stale. At the same time it will tell our manager who in the u21's is good enough and who can step up when needed.

I think there’s a chasm in quality between the U21 games and the Championship. One thing when we had a category A academy and were exposed to top PL academy sides.

Players that have come up recently have struggled, both here and at lower division sides. Parker looked good for a couple of games before injury, Govea had some bright cameos but everyone else has found it tough.

Agree with the gist of what you’re saying, but I think the difference in quality (or quite possibly pace, physicality and intensity) is just too big without a loan spell somewhere first.

Agreed. We need to be back to full Category One, hopefully after the appraisal at the end of the season, to attract better players to the under 21 squad. What we have don't seem to be cutting it here when moved up or out on loan to lower league clubs.

I genuinely think that could be down to the standard of competition as much as, if not more than, the players themselves.

Whether a Category A academy is financially viable for us at the moment I don’t know.
