I don’t see any club paying a meaningful transfer fee given his injury/fitness issues over the past 12-18 months. I suspect we’re stuck with him and he’s stuck with us. If he wants a big money contract on a free next summer then he’s surely got to show something this season.

Limping his way to a free transfer at the end of the season , no one is paying money for him

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I'm sorry,

Your obviously watching the wrong player.

I saw Mr Willock run his heart out today, lay on loads of excellent meaningful passes, 3 connecting and at least 4 or 5 shots on target.

What a player! i'm just sad that his performance today puts his going to a bigger team for £8-10 mil, a certainty. It's just who he goes to....... but no matter who he does go and play for he will shine and be worth the £10m they will spend on him.

I will be very sad to see him go, thats for sure. What an engine!

Yep, a lot of folks claiming willock is gonna down tools but i think youre spot on. he should be as incentivised to do well for the rest of the season as we are for him to do well

whats his alternative? he bins off the rest of the year and expects to get a good deal on a free in the summer? as you said, dont think any premier league clubs are gonna be chomping at the bit for a 26 year old coming off 1.5 terrible seasons and 2 bad hamstring injuries

lets see if hes still here post 31 august. if hes still here, i think ainsworth and club have to basically tell him, look we know youre off at the end of the year.... if you do well and apply yourself for the next 4 months, we will let you go in january (and clubs will be more willing to take a chance if you have a few good months in the bank)..... its a win win for both, as we can try to recoup some value and hopefully he gets us some points.... and for him, he can go elsewhere on a better package

having said that i think id still get rid of him pre deadline

And the Brains Trust that act as his advisers don’t seem to have realised there’s a correlation between how he plays and what salary he can command. Do they really think he’s going to get a wheelbarrow of cash every week because he was unplayable for a few months three years ago?

in his defense, he probably wants out and wants to get out before 31 august... he doesnt want to get injured and jeopardise his move and he also probably doesnt care abt our result (on basis that he wont be here for long)

i think the only reason we played him is b/c we had no one else and we probably hoped that a decent performance mightve gotten us a few more quid

if hes still here post deadline, he'd be an idiot to still be half a**ing.... but its quite natural for him to have his heard turned.....

I've been sick of the sight of him lately but thought he wasn't too bad that half tbh. But quite possibly because my expectations were extremely low.

Yeah he was a bit languid but he often is, not completely in it yes but he used his body well in challenges and showed the odd bit of good work.

Got fouled a few times so was causing enough of a problem to trouble his marker. Could have broken away at one point but somebody tried to pull his shirt off.

It's all a bit of a pity.

I find it all so depressing & quite sad. The boy was heading for QPR legend status. Looks likely to leave through the back door & will get boo'd if he ever plays at LR again.

His Dad is his agent I believe. Head turned, tapped up. All that.

Correct, 3 times when trying to run he had his shirt pulled, i thought he did ok considering time out. Massive hole in that area after half time, once Armstrong did his hour that was us done going forward.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Thought he did pretty well. Ipswich had to hold his shirt to keep him in check. We were a better side 1st half with him on the pitch. He helped set up Sinclair when I thought he'd given us the lead, but had managed to hit both posts.

This thread is a joke.

Think there some Fulham and Brentford fans incognito.

Willock I thought played really well.

Linked up well with Armstrong and Chair and we looked dangerous.

He did so much better with the physical side of the game and tbh it was big shock he was taken off at half time.

Am guessing it's on the advice of the medical science team but for me him going off and more defence minded Colback coming on who had no preseason at all, made zero sense.

It gave the crowd a bit of a slump start second half.

I think Ainsworth sends messages players before the game as to how long they play coming back ie probably said to Colback you got the second half but it was working and another 15 minutes with Willock on the pitch we could easily got couple of goals lead.

Even then their goal was massively against the run of play.

For those that weren't there, Chris Willocks name in the starting line up got a big cheer only behind Armstrong in terms of decibels...

No issues with him today at all, and we didn’t look as cohesive once he went off. Thought he played well, worked reasonably hard without busting a gut, but they fouled him every time he had it. As I’ve said before, we only know one side of the story, and he’s been injured for about 12 of the last 14 months. Find the ‘sick of the sight of him’ comments a bit ott.

Bare bones.

It's quite shameful to join in so regularly with the bashings given ,

ie we are supporters trying build players up but he actually did very well today.

I thought he played ok actually. What the future is is anyone's guess but if he does give his all and help us while he's still ours that will be ok by me.

I thought he was very good and tied up a number of Ipswich players who clearly appreciated his ability. I don't think he was injured just told he would play one half. I would have put him up there amongst our better players in the first half

Thought he was fine first half. He was targetted 4 or 5 times by the ipswich players who clearly were nervous about giving him space. I think the ref, who generally was ok if a bit weak, should have carded one of them which might have given him a bit more space.

I wasn't basing my opinion on today, rather the many months he has failed to deliver. He can certainly take no credit for us somehow us staying up last season. It will be better for him and us if he goes. I appreciate some feel differently. All about opinions eh.

Considering he’s barely played, Willock had a good 45 minutes. If he does stay and gets 4 or 5 consecutive games under his belt, he has every chance of finding the form and fitness he is capable of. Too many on here speculating over things they know nothing about. He could be the difference between us kicking on this season or struggling badly. The Chair / Willock combination has proven extremely effective for us before his big injury and if anything, it was Chair who had a bit of a stinker in the first half.

All things considered, more than happy with today’s efforts and despite being a detractor of Dozzell since his arrival, I thought he worked hard and played well today. Fair play young man, shame it’s come just as Colback is ready to take your place.

He showed more effort today but I’m not sure we will ever see the player of 18 months ago again.

For me, he’s frightened to sprint or turn fast any more. Great ball in from Smyth in first half but his mind wasn’t switched on to turn and run, just wants the comfortable ball to feet.
