Defence very good, midfield overrun, attack toothless.

The lads dug in and ground out a result, substance over style but who cares.

Saints dug in well after conceding in the first half, fought hard and showed great spirit particularly in the second half. Substitutions were perfectly timed and well considered, Shane Long hassled and harried the spurs defence to distraction, Davies was determined and very effective and thoroughly deserves his two goals. Everyone put a hell of a shift in. VVD was calm and immense in equal measure and when Pelle and Ward-Prowse were brought on later in the game it took nothing away from a well organised and resolute Saints side. Koeman clearly has exactly what we always said Pochetino lacked and that is the ability to read a game and make the right ajustments in the heat of the moment.

Great result - Saints rode their luck in the first 30 minutes, but the last hour brought determined and organised defence and decisive counter attack. Impressive from Davo, Long, VVD, Bertrand and Mane. Thought Romeu was the telling sub on the hour; really tightened up the midfield. Such a satisfying win; maybe not as electrifying as the win at Stamford Bridge back in October, the 4-0 v Arsenal in January or last weeks frolic v Man City but stuffing Spurs on their own patch was just memorable.

WAHEY! Athletico....Leicester....Saints. Epic defense, potent countering, superb team performance and Davis and VVD were magnificent with special mentions for Fonte, Romeu, Bertrand and Big Vic. Sadio was on it and should have had a pen

The difference in our full backs was stark! Bertrand was almost faultless, Cuco a liability.

I was watching it on a stream in the kitchen while the missus was reading outside - a book about art. Immediately before our first goal she goes "love, do you know what Lyrical Abstractionism is?" and I went YES! FCKING YES! AAAAH YEESSSSSSS GET IN!!!!!!

Imagine her disappointment when my answer wasn't equal to the billing she thought i'd given it.

Anyway - that was the most satisfying result of the season, bar none.

Get in there !! Superb win

Yes we rode our luck a little at times, but then, so did Spurs.

Everyone played their part, from FF with a couple of great saves despite his error for the opener, to the rock that is VvD, to 2 goals from the unlikeliest of sources and to the superb harrassing and running of Long.

Could have had a penalty too, but we only get 1 in 6 or 7 of our definite pens and it is only Spurs who get them at the lane.

Loved it when the crowd were turning towards the end and were booing like skates. Their fans are really horrible and think their are supreme and have the right to win every game. For that reason alone, it was the most satisfying result of the season - closely followed bythe come back v Liverpool !!
