Have you read / listened to "how they broke Britain" By James O' Brien? Tells you all you need to know about why we are in the s*** we're in in this country. |

In Jim's recent interview he said that Brad is a vital part of the goalkeeping team. This makes me think that he will be 2nd choice with another keeper coming into the club. I'm hoping we sigh someone rather than get a loan in, Maulden would be a dream but I can but hope! |

Rumour I heard was there was about to be a vote of no confidence in Sunak, if he called an election to say "if you're going to vote me out then I'm taking you lot with me", fair play to him. |

You don't need to build on greenbelt. There are plenty of empty properties above shops in town centre's (and you don't need to build sub standard flats from former office blocks) and there is also the greybelt, derelict industrial sites in now greenbelt land. All it takes is a bit of imagination and not trying to maximise every last penny of profit. |

I have always believed that PR is the way forward if a government/ parliament is going to truly reflect the wishes of the people, even if that means that frog faced Farage and his neo fascist friends get more representation better to have them out in the open and properly challenged. That being said there are many forms of PR and choosing the right one is vital. I spent most of last night flicking between BBC, ITV & C4, and can't remember who said it now but the point was made that the link between a politician and their constituency must remain. You cannot have a PR system whereby politicians are chosen by central office based on the % vote. Oh and Brexit was / is a disaster by any metric you would care to use, if you are in a trading club and then constantly stag it off and then leave it, on what planet do you think you're going to get a better deal? |

I believe they're called libertarians. Which is ironic. |

If you voted for Brexit as a point of principal on sovereignty alone then I suppose you kind of got what you voted for, however when the policies you wish to enact with your new found sovereignty mean you will have to pull out of the European (not EU) convention on human rights something has gone badly wrong with this country. I suspect that most people who voted Brexit did so because they believed they'd be better off financially and were taken in by the lies that vote leave told and that's not exactly worked out has it. Oh and let's not forget a healthy dose of racism and blaming immigration for all our woe's when it was in fact 14 years of austerity. |

Definitely need to turn that screw a little more, it appears to have worked loose |

The other side if this argument is that people may be expecting the current situation to change under a Labour government and to start to feel richer, be able to get doctors appointments etc, but I think there is very little wriggle room for Labour to play with especially having had to rule out most of the areas where you could potentially raise revenue by tax increases. I think the next election will be more important and may signal the abandonment of the political middle ground as is happening across the channel. |

Having just listened to part 2 of Jim's interview it would appear that John has gone. Not right bothered one way or other. Think we are still a few players light especially in defence now. Is there any news on the scholars who have been offered contracts have they accepted? |

Oh I totally agree but this is just Ron Martin being a **** ...........again |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Southend at 11:40 26 Jun 2024
Of course this was settled out of court at the last minute this is Ron Martin's playbook. He likes to play his mental games does Rom. The irony is that this wup was brought against the club by Martin's own legal team, he's not even paying his own people now. I feel for the Southend fans, Martin is basically torturing them. I thought he had sold the club to the Australian consortium (who have put over £1m into the club) but it appears he still has them by the balls. I no longer live in Essex so don't know the in's and out's of this situation but I believe Martin is trying to use this to pressure the Southend Council into subsidising some housing development. Whichever way you look at it Southend will Always be in peril until Martin is finally gone. At least Bottomly was reasonably incompetent at screwing us over, Ron Martin is an expert. |

I would presume it must be on reduced wages, didn't expect 2 years but reasonably happy with this. |

I asked my former boss (County season ticket holder) about him being a man of few words he said "Good player. Daft as a brush" mind you to be fair all he said about Kairo was "f****** useless" which I don't agree with. |
