Interesting to read about the Australian media, is it something that gets worse with time? My Polish neighbours of nearly twenty years were supporting any team that played against us and loudly cheered goals against us.
Spain are a different challenge as they will be on the front foot from the start. I rarely think defensively but I might be tempted to put Bellingham next to Rice and see out the first twenty minutes, settle in to the game and then attack.
On the other hand both the Germans and French put Spain under a lot of pressure. |

Our players have plenty of experience playing at home for their clubs and the away team coming to park the bus. The Dutch have tried to kill the game but we should still be on the front foot. Most throw ins go backwards, Kane too deep.
Changes are needed. |

Disappointing as on his day Chris is a match winner. However Christian Nourry is spot on with his comments.
You have to be pragmatic when top players leave the club as they can get better deals elsewhere. Many of us were annoyed when Ryan Manning left the club but hasn't he managed his career well. Good luck to him and Chris.
It will be interesting to see how injury free Chris will be this season but I get the feeling that he will struggle without Ben Williams and his team. |

The way that our players despatched their penalties suggests to me that pressure isn't a major problem for them. There are a few inexperienced players in the squad but most players have previously faced pressure games when winning cups and leagues and most have already played tournament football with England.
Everyone is more than happy that we are progressing through the tournament but the negativity simply comes from the way that we are stumbling through the competition, one minute from being eliminated.
More importantly in the back of our minds we have a World Cup semi-final defeat to Croatia and a Euros Final defeat to Italy where we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory due to Gareth's negative approach and reluctance to make substitutions.
People feel frustrated and negative now because they can see history repeating itself in this tournament. |

The Netherlands, like us, have kind of stumbled in to the semi finals. We come up against Virgil van Dijk. A minutes worth of research reveals that Harry Kane has scored nine times against Liverpool and Olly Watkins six times.
Of course Gareth won't change anything so I expect another dour match with a piece or two of individual brilliance deciding the game although extra time and penalties would not be a huge surprise. |

We were not lucky, football matches are rarely won and lost with luck.
You could say that we have reached the Semi Finals inspite of Gareth Southgate.
The penalties were sublime taken with supreme confidence and ability. A small glimpse of what our players could produce with a more forward thinking manager. |

Whatever the tweaks it’s same old same old, passing it around and not getting anywhere. Switzerland will be happy.
Maybe Gareth will tweak it for the second half 😂 |
