Despite being told that he is popular with the players, he has clearly lost their confidence. Furthermore, when was the last time one of our squad picked up a training injury? Far too long ago for me to believe that they are being trained to PL levels of fitness. Half of them are only good for the first thirty minutes. WGS would have crucified them! |

Well, that's all very marvellous but what would happen if the team playing out from the back were pinned into their own half by a relentless team of attacking footballers? Our fundamental problem last year was having dead weight between the sticks. This year it is fear of football. Sod Potter, somebody sign Benjamin Netanyahu as manager. Sadly, I think you're right but if nobody had academies, where would the talent come from. Prerhaps it is time for indentured apprenticeships - a commitment to stay for three years perhaps. The trouble is if you support a child in the academy and before he turns sixteen, you can get a million for him before he breaks something, it looks like good business. |

Three words with positive connotations.
Just as they were supposed to be when the system was introduced by a paternalistic Government after the war. The country was bankrupt and we worked out way into the sixties without homelessness or houses costing 10 times salary. People need looking after. The safety net needs to be there and it would be more acceptable to many if it were fine enough to stop our poorest from falling through it. |
