Also, like Jonathan David, in the Canadian men's national team. Watched him a bit in the Copa America - went missing a lot of the time but has undoubted potential and good age at 24 - thought he was older.
We have two very static deep-lying central midfielders in Field and Colback. They're both fine on the ball but neither drives forward into open spaces linking the defence with the attack. I'm sure Marti knows this if interest in Varane is to be believed.
I agree about Dixon-Bonner. He has potential and I like him but I don't think he should be first choice in the centre of the park, particularly alongside Colback. I'd like to see us strengthen in the middle with a good up and down No. 8.
Generally a very decent performance against a strong Spurs side. Shame one of our chances didn't go in to reward a good home crowd. Hope Chair missing is nothing nefarious as we missed him today, would have loved to see him play against the Spuds.
All the youngsters did very well in the last 20, particularly Lloyd who looked a handful. Wasn't so convinced with Santos, at least not in that advanced right-wing position, much prefer Smyth there.
Kolli has impressed me. Has good strength and holds the ball up nicely. Needs to learn to go on the outside rather than always cut inside. Lovely effort that was tipped onto the bar.
I know it was a Prem-class goal but Bissouma should never have been allowed to walz through like that. Colback standing with his hands on hips. Missing the Shield.
Two great saves from Nardi and impressed how calm he looks with the ball. Need to have the players who are confident to play out from the back if that's what we're going to do.
Bastard Surrey, they always beat us. Hampshire have been really below par this year, normally guaranteed a spot in the finals. Vincey (a big QPR fan btw) looks like he's losing his mojo.
I hope not too - JCS gives us great balance on the left of defence. If he does go I'd like to see us replace him with a proper left-sided centre-back, not a right-footer.
I'm less concerned about Mahoney's height (I think he showed on loan at Swindon that he's a decent shot stopper) - can he command his box and play out from the back?
