Everyone criticising Madsen is wrong. You don’t understand what you’re seeing and probably don’t understand football. Our cultured, languid, Dane is completely wasted on you footballing Neanderthals. He’s composed and has a great silky first touch. If you’ve missed it then you’ve not been paying attention. Your simple minds can only comprehend prehistoric, 4-4-2, long ball, lots of tackles and PASHUN! There is no middle ground. It’s either Madsen or you’re uneducated scum. You can’t have nice things, the tooth fairy doesn’t exist, Christmas is cancelled!!!!
Summer 2023 went up with the family. We got the Caledonian Sleeper to Inverness where we picked up a camper-van. We followed the North Coast 500 with a few detours. It was one of the best holidays I’ve had. Highly recommend it!
@qpr_1968 - If you need any tips/recommendations let me know and I can DM you.
Consider your water to coffee ratio. If you're sensitive to caffeine but still want to drink coffee try a filter coffee, lighter roast, something Ethiopian perhaps? Avoid espresso based coffees.
Regarding your second point. If you could consider our final league positions since relegation from the PL:
Bottom half: 20, 19, 18, 18
Mid-table: 16, 13
Top-half: 12, 11, 9
Firstly, this dispels the '16th place' myth (one for the LFW glossary) and IMO reflects very well on Holloway's tenure - avoided relegation in 2016/17 and finished a respectable 16th the following season AND lets not forget our last home game of the season which I think was a peak performance for us in terms of the direction of the club - just look at the players on the video still - Kakay, Furlong, Bright, Eze, Chair, two of those goal scorers on the day. exciting times!
On the other managers:
Warburtons gambles on big signings are somewhat justified. Hasselbaink/McClaren/Beale/Ainsworth complete failure. Critchley was just a stop gap. Cifuentes TBC.
The league positions show how chaotic or football strategy has been and I think generally the frustration has been justified even if some of the individual grievances have been OTT. We've gambled before and we're rolling the dice...again.
Putting aside the navel gazing about which player is a dud and the merits of having Championship experience...it will be very interesting to see what the mood is like on here if we beat Pompey. I for one will be ecstatic and will have absolutely no problem making 180 degree turn on all my opinions.
Absolutely nothing controversial or surprising about Gallen’s comments. We’re on iteration number whateveritisnow of the QPR project. Bottom line is we don’t have any money and are now looking for crap players from abroad.
We’re probably the most pretentious team in the Championship and all this talk about the Languid Dane being a classy player further compounds the embarrassment of it all. George W Bush said it right:
There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again
The last decade has shown us that this is our level.
We have consistently signed gash players and failed to produce anything from our academy. We don’t pay competitive wages and are stuck in a money draining stadium.
I’ve accepted all of this. I continue to renew my season ticket and attend as many games as possible. I support the team and don’t boo players. But, what I can’t accept is the insanity of thinking that some of these players are going to improve in a meaningful way.
The final straw for me has been Andersen’s dip in form. Watching him play last season gave me hope for our future/direction. We can’t control what goes on at the club, we just have to ride out these poor performances and enjoy the rare victories when they come.
Last season was rubbish, but there were a few great moments and I guess that’s what we’re chasing . Last minute worldies against Birmingham or destroying LeedsLeedsLeeds at home under the lights.
Agree, definitely not a dud, but VERY frustrating. He needs to be a little more versatile. Doesn’t need to turn into Charles Bronson but could get a bit more stuck in! It’s his application not ability that’s the issue. It should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, I want him to succeed.
Madsen isn’t ‘the’ problem in the side, but he is a big problem. I know some are taken by his ‘languid’ style and potential (if only we built our team around our Danish Dozzell upgrade) but he’s going to be crap more often than he’s good and we’ll continue to have the same conversations. That said…we are stuck with him so it is probably worth trying to fit in him somehow - not building a team around him but at least getting him playing in his optimal position.
The sad truth is the team is also rubbish more often than it’s good. I think we need to adjust our expectations. We’re not play-off contenders and we definitely shouldn’t be in relegation battle.
Hopefully something will click and well see improved performances across the team.
