Winter fuel allowance
at 13:17 30 Jul 2024

Supermarket petrol stations have been accused time and time again since covid, all the Ombudsman(if there is one) who should be regulating the price of oil especially if the price of a barrel of oil is continually low is force supermarket prices down by a couple of pence and then it slowly rises again no doubt encouraged by the Just stop oil zealots.
For oil read the closed shop of the water utility companys who continue unabated to poison river and sea life.

Swans in for Aberdeen Youngster?
at 08:07 26 Jul 2024

Graham and Hanratty are 20 and 21 and the question is where do you play them, in the 21's that will block pathways for younger kids or train with the first team in midweek and sit in the stand on matchdays.
Talk to the fans who go to watch the friendly matches and they will tell you that neither player impressed at Trefelin or at Briton Ferry & Llansawel this week so ae they worthy of being offered a pro deal for twelve or twenty four months.

Is it any wonder the four regions are struggling, Club Wales plays almost the same amount of matches in twelve months that the likes of the Ospreys etc., do. Who would want to watch the Ospreys or buy a season ticket when the team is faced with blooding their academy youngsters.

Holidays in Cardigan ( tresaith)
at 10:44 25 Jul 2024

In all honesty as much as we have loved travelling abroad over the years and the excitement that comes with travelling to the airport through to taking in the foreign delicacies and the departure home we just can't be bothered with all the politics that involves modern day air travel, not forgetting searching for travel insurance.
Yes you have the advantage of warm weather, cheaper food and drink but for that a couple of days taking in the delights of villages in Norfolk, Suffolk and even Essex, besides trips back home to Swansea more than fulfils our travel expectations as we approach our mid-70's.

Gwbert is a lovely village and the Gwbert Hotel is well worth a visit. Situated overlooking the estuary a sea view room is stunning. Ideal base if you are a golfer, Cardigan golf club is situated behind the hotel about 500 yards up the hill.
Great staff and terrific food.

As good at times Doug was for the club he was incredibly single minded when contract issues distracted him. Robbie James was stuffed over Doug deny he had given the promise that Doug would pay Robbie's stamp duty while a former Bolton full back Gary Earnshaw was pictured in the Swans team pre-season photo call yet didn't play a game for the club.

How did Aimar Govea get spotted in amongst all the UK talent available ?
at 14:38 26 Jun 2024

Perhaps Juve didn't move in on Aimar because he was under the age of 16, but the youngster was already in the Swans 'system' in season 2020/21 when he was 14 years old, actually making his debut from the bench at Bristol City in 28/4/21, three months short of his 15th birthday

How did Aimar Govea get spotted in amongst all the UK talent available ?
at 12:06 26 Jun 2024

Whatever scouts Juve had in Cardiff I dare say their recruitment in Spain is far more developed and would have spotted Aimar in 2022 from this article in the Official site

Swansea City Under-18s' midfielder Aimar Govea has been called up to Spain's Under-17 squad for their training camp in Alicante from December 12 to December 15.
The 16-year-old has been named as part of Julen Guerrero's 26-man squad to travel to Alfaz del Pí for a four-day preparation camp as they look forward to the Uefa Under-17 European Championship, with the finals due to take place next year.
Govea - who has already represented Ecuador at international youth level - making his debut against Argentina Under-17s back in October, was born in Spain.

More likely the lad was spotted initially playing for the Ecuador U18's in their Spanish base and his first team call up increased attention from Juve's scouting system. Attached to a South American outfit has more credence than little old Swansea!

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
at 18:46 8 Jun 2024

Whether the contract was not attractive enough to tempt Iwan Morgan to sign a pro contract or there were other circumstances, I dare say if he had stayed he would have been in and around the first team last season.

Is home grown talent flourishing? If not why not?
at 16:12 2 Jun 2024

Mark Allen didn't sign Lissah or Wilson or any of the Chelsea youngsters, that was down to the head of recruitment at the time Jack Chapman.
As for Eze, he came to Landore on trial, amongst other clubs and wasn't rated. That's what happens in football, an academy can't sign everybody they trial and when some trialists when they arrive don't impress. Move on.

🔴 Swansea City : Zak Jules in profile

If Jules was 24 we would be at the back of the queue whether we lose out on wages or a transfer fee. Even the foreign players mentioned are asking for wages more than what our budget dictates

This is the market the Swans are in and we had better get used to it, but on the plus side a keen, late developer, eager to learn Lge 1 c/back who can play in a 3 or 4 back row, for a fee of around £350k I have no doubt will prove to be a better option than the money spent on a loan for Humphries last season.

Feels like 1930s
at 18:53 15 Oct 2023

Absolutely very little comparison can be made with the present day and the 1930's. Families from the valleys moved to the likes of Slough and Luton in search of a job and were treated like shit by the locals. Can poverty in today's world be compared to the 30's, not really. Benefits abound in today's world while hand me down clothes were treated as Xmas presents when kids were fortunate.
The fact of the matter is that the majority of people were in the same boat and the one vital aspect of todays' life - a lack of respect, was something that proud, poor Welsh families were respected for.
Just imagine if our parents, grandparents were alive today I wonder what their thoughts would be regarding the inability of so many to be able, let alone cook a meal, and pay for somebody to deliver a meal to one's door.

When fans become smitten with the 'charmer' that was Russell Martin, people like Duff who tells it as it is, plain speaking with no frills and who doesn't pander to the journos in front of him at press conferences, no doubt they are disappointed. But there again the bullshit world suits some.
