Alternative title:Plumbing new depths. It’s unfathomable how that can be the antithesis of everything we saw against Watford. Or was that a dream and didn’t really happen? |

Clive, thanks for this very sobering piece, not that many of us are drunk on optimism right now. Unfortunately those among our fan base who should read it probably won’t. At the Luton game we had one fûckwit behind me in upper loft shouting “ you don’t know what you’re doing “ aimed at Critchley. Presumably because Willock didn’t start . The same Willock who is a shadow of his pre- injury form . Let’s hope we at least see a performance tonight. |

I’ve been trying to think who Iroegbunam reminds me of and in a very weird sort of way I came up with Samba Diakite . I know , I know the mad Malian isn’t fit to lace his boots , but the way Tim runs faster with the ball at his feet than the oppo can run without it ( eg for the pen) was reminiscent of dear old Samba. Luckily he doesn’t seem to share his propensity to get booked every 10 mins. |

The “Barbet dead ball specialist “ myth was well and truly exploded with his penalty v Sunderland ( gleefully copied by Kepa last week) and the only possible mitigation is that they’d clearly identified Smithies’ weakness at crosses in his 6 yard box . I don’t think he cleared the box once with his punches. Maybe they thought he was the best left footed option for inswinging corners .Can’t think of any other reason. We played from about 50th minute as if we were 2-0 in the 90th minute and seeing the game out when they were there for the taking . It now needs a massive swing in momentum to get out of this tailspin, but few better places to start than Lootown, but I fear a defeat and worse still a toxic atmosphere. Please let me be wrong |

A beautiful piece, and for those who were there it brought it all back . Hopefully for those who weren’t it enabled them to share the moment. Glorious work . |
| News Comment | And all I ever knew - Report at 00:33:07
Totally share your anger at that performance. Not angry that we were outplayed by a superior team/ squad but that we didn’t make up for the difference in ability by being physical. Apart from the early tackle from JDW on Mitrovic we seemed scared to go near him. Even at corners he was doing as he pleased when we should have been needling him and showing who’s boss . It never happened. We needed a nasty snarling Keown type performance from the centre backs but instead we got a limp Matthew Rose one . I’ve ranted plenty all week that Dunne should not have been dropped for Jordy ( and dropped is the word , not rested or rotated ) and so it proved . I think dropping Dunne sends a negative message that he will only play if Jordy is injured ( or plays like that again) but I’ve yet to see what Jordy can do that Dunne can’t. Fair enough when he was fit and playing well he keeps the shirt but Dunne did enough to retain it when he got his chance. And as for Moses , where to start ? An absolute shocker worth of a 3 tops . I’d deduct 2 points for the pathetic attempt when he was blown off the ball in a dangerous position. Too feeble for words . And the 2 nd goal was never a foul by Mitrovic . He wanted it more and eased his “ marker “(?) off the ball . Superb play and if goals get chalked off for that , we may as well not bother. |

A very open game- almost felt like 9 a side on a big pitch, there was so much space in midfield. Imagine Eze in this game ? Sorry, shouldn’t mention him but him versus Ajaria would be worth seeing |

Clive , such a moving piece it genuinely brought a tear to my eye . Seeing him in that vile Palace abomination of a kit is like seeing the girl you love with her new bloke with big biceps and tats, except in Ebs’ case he goes with our best wishes . Have had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and he really is a lovely lad and a true credit to his family. But life and football move on . I was either near you at that Brentford game or there was a similar moron behind me too . Comments like “10 million for that? He’s not worth ten grand “ Sad that such ignorance exists within our fan base . Good luck Ebs and remember the part we played in kick starting your career . He will do , as he is still fond of Gaz and Wycombe. I’m off to shed a quiet tear...... |
| News Comment | End of Term Report 18/19 — Strikers at 01:57:33
Thanks for the end of term reviews Clive. That's an awful lot of work . I was seriously tempted to save this to provide some LFW sustenance during the lean summer months when you'll be having a well- earned rest and we are deprived of our fix . Until the torrent of new signings arrives of course and you'll be busy introducing them to us 🤔Thanks for keeping us entertained throughout the season. |

As a club we are incredibly fortunate to have your writing on this site and DT's amazing work on AKUTRs. Not being on social media other than FB I am blissfully unaware of what goes on there but it's a place which seems to attract its fair share of bellends . If they get off on knocking people it just shows what sad empty lives they lead . The supportive messages preceding mine are testimony to how real fans view your work and it would leave a big hole if LFW didn't exist. Even here you get the odd post like " Clive , I don't think X was worth a 7 if Y only got a 6" or " Clive, it was Scowen's pass not Freeman's " which must pi55 you off when you get that back from such pedants. Anyway long may you continue to have your LFW mojo and I hope you continue to enjoy writing it whilst entertaining and informing us . |
| News Comment | Same old FA Cup story for sorry QPR - Report at 19:22:06
Thanks Clive. The long ball 'tactic' to Smith might be excusable if that was his strength, but he doesn't win them often and when he does , they're ploppy headers or not directed. And we don't have midfielders who gamble with those runs into the box . Where's Stuart Wardley when you need him? Errr joke by the way. Smith needs proper crosses into the box with pace to be effective not these long aimless punts which defenders invariably eat for breakfast. |
| News Comment | How was your Friday? - Report at 09:59:02
Clive your words are full of pain, frustration. exasperation even and are exactly the reasons I vowed to never go back to that Neanderthal cave after the last time when Morison bossed Big Danny. Regardless of the result and performance ( which only add insult to injury) the whole experience is just thoroughly unpleasant and I don't need that shit . Yesterday I went to Wycombe v Mansfield and it was a world away from this . Pleasant friendly people treating fans with respect and courtesy not like animals. TBH Eze showed flashes but the game passed him by and I fear we have unrealistic expectations of him . Anyway he is coming back on Tuesday but no point him playing if we adopt these tactics as he won't see the ball . Isn't cup tied so will presumably play v franchise fc. I hope our fans are patient with him - he's not an Out and out striker so not sure how we can accommodate him with the 3 midfielders. |
| News Comment | Freeman blasts deserved late leveller - Report at 14:23:43
Lee, thanks for the report. Agree with every word apart from the' assist' for their goal was more of a lucky deflection from a shot that was going well wide, but no arguing with the shot which was the only moment of quality in the first half. It's telling that our defenders get the highest marks, as yet again it is the attacking players who contributed little, which is a fair summary of where we are. Great keeper, 2nd string defenders doing a fair job , good quality midfield, no reliable goalscorers and little creativity apart from Freeman. Barnsley were woeful and if we had Villa's forwards ( or even one of them ) we might have won 3-1. |
| News Comment | One for later — Signing at 18:42:11
Trouble is Clive, many of the imbeciles who frequent some other R's fans' sites or social media just don't get it. The biggest nonsense is reserved for those criticising TF for not spending enough ( notwithstanding FFP saying he can't even if wanted to ) when it's a ( not so) delicious irony that him spending TOO MUCH was how we got in this shit in the first place. Courtesy of Hughes & Redknapp of course. And talking of low expectations, shouldn't we be singing from the rooftops at having 7 pts from the 1st 5 games ? For my sins I have a lot of Brentford mates and I've not heard one of them moan at their board or manager despite them only having 2 pts. Can you imagine the unholy stink that Ollie, Les & Co would cop if it was the other way round ? A lot of us need the proverbial reality check . Could be worse- we could be Arsenal I suppose. |

Tim assuming your comment wasn't with tongue in cheek, that's very harsh on Smithies for first goal . From the away end it was a goal as soon as he hit it. I can think of many others to blame before Smithies e.g. All the outfield players but most notably the skipper who turned as fast as HMS (Chris) Barker used to. |
| News Comment | A familiar Christmas tale of woe for QPR at Brighton - Report at 14:11:52
Bang on as usual Clive . Couldn't believe how we kept leaving their tallest player free for far post corners time after time. And don't start me on throw-ins . I've gone on about this for years. Ours always become a 50-50 option. Never to a player in space of a simple one touch layoff back to the thrower to keep Possession. By contrast they had players in 5 yds of space around and sometimes in our box at thei throws. Schoolboy stuff . I don't know if that's the manager/coaches' fault or don't our players have brain ? It's one thing having little goal threat but if you can't defend either it doesn't bode well. |
