Agreed. Nardi has arguably been our best summer signing and although still early doors, his stock is rising (as well as his highlight reel after that quadruple save). We seem to have a decent crop of keepers right now. If things continue, i can see us cashing in on Nardi in a yr or so at time when Walsh will be pushing for more game time. A seamless transition. Keep the conveyer belt turning. |

Also what we know so far.. After recent seasons the general hope/expectation was for a cozy mid-table finish. On average that produces x18 defeats a season (16 to go, buckle up). Not every defeat will see us toe-to-toe with the opposition in a neck & neck encounter, sometimes we wont show up. Today two average teams were cancelling each other out until the scales were tipped. Half our spine and key leaders were missing in JCS, Colback & Chair. The season is also only 15% complete, 39 games to go. This is a new group of players so i would expect inconsistency and a settling in period, sprinkled with a bit of shit here and there. Granted some have shown more promise than others, and some just won't work out. I get that summer optimism has somewhat sobered, but it was always going to be bumpy ride with so many recent changes, on and off the field. |

At that age..18? The lad was only promoted to the dev squad last yr and he should be walking into a L1/L2 club starting lineup? If he was, he'd be on our bench today. Just a taste of men's football for an 18yr old kid, probably more for mental toughness than actual football development. Fine by me. If he's still at that level end of next season then it'd be concerning, as for now let him develop and see how he grows. |

Shame as i quite enjoyed the reviews / build-up chats with K Gallen on their youtube channel. There's something about an actual ex-pro giving their insight that holds a bit more gravitas (if articulated well enough). |

As a young lad old racing home to check the scores one April afternoon, it was indeed Ceefax that broke the news to me Eoin Jess had scored the solitary goal of the game at Coventry to all but send us down. Still remember that page loading... |

I'd like to see Santos or Ashby given a run at RB to give some more balance, threat, energy and options going forward. As much as i love Jimmy, a fine stand-in job and great backs-to-the-wall option, it's never quite looked natural. |

This for me is a perfect case for a loan out, the lad is almost 24 and only played 25 senior games (according to wiki), majority of which have either been from the bench or in sporadic starts here and there. Those 'hot/cold' glimpses are exactly what I'd expect from someone with so little first team experience. He has shown some quality, comes from a great pedigree but now needs a consistent run of games to loosen the shackles and get in the groove. Approaching prime age, show us what you got EDB. |

We know that the way we set up our CF is going to be isolated as f**k. Unless we're dominating games, we need them to single handedly bulldoze past two center half's a la Armstrong / Frey. Celar is not the guy for that and doesn't look close to winning one of those hopeful balls, therefore he has to bring other qualities. Goals. How will he score goals? By getting minutes to get into the groove and on same wavelength of teammates. Those teammates are all new, even to each other, the whole front 4 was new last night. There are no established patterns of play for reference so of course it will take some time. I'll reserve full judgment until he's had some real chances on goal, consistently misses the target, or shows no improvement after 6 months. It's not like he's missing sitters every game, a few chances against Plymouth where granted he should have scored, but he was in there swiveling looking for it, more than could be said for some recent strikers. |

Tyler is doing just fine in my opinion. He's a young lad probably mid 20's showing maturity beyond his years, no doubt still learning and people improve / find their feet with experience. I don't need a football commentator to entertain me, if the football is shit the football is shit. Just guide me along and don't interfere with my viewing frequency, that's it. Who really listens to them in depth anyway? It's less about what you say and more how you say it (within reason): accent / voice tone neutral. Also, watching some streams with the oppo comms dear me.. Tyler keeps it professional. [Post edited 17 Sep 8:40]

From what age groups do we field teams, assuming U12 or similar? If so what's the point of 'developing' lads for 6 yrs+ only for them to progress to a key age group to get thumped each game. Are our best prospects getting snapped up each yr leaving us with scraps by U18? Is it not better just to pick off the falling premier league academy tree as per our recent dev squad recruits, assuming they've had a better development at a higher level elsewhere.. I suppose one or two might come through making it all worthwhile yet what potential can develop in a team getting smashed each week, not to mention reputational damage in the minds of parents/players alike. |

If not mistaken, Alfie Lloyd went on loan around the same age and got 20 senior games under his belt, 2 yrs older than Kolli but looks as if he's willing to get his head down and work this season, Marti is rewarding him with game time ahead of Kolli whilst still being raw himself. Depends how you frame it i suppose: 'fu*k yeah I'll go on loan watch me tear up league 1 come back in jan you'll have no choice but to play me'. Or 'nah too good for a loan I'm already better than all these fuc*kers here (bar chair / dembele)'. Either way the talking should be done on the pitch. Kolli has ability and clearly believes in himself but still a lot to learn positionally. Should that learning curve be in our 1st team or elsewhere? Either way Marti sees him every day and trust he knows best. |
| Forum Reply | Jimmy Dunne - undroppable at 10:25 2 Sep 2024
Yeah true, though it would also limit his options / earning potential as a new club would then have to stump up a transfer fee potentially paying him less signing on fee or wage p/w High risk, high reward i suppose. |

Lets face it, everyone's loyal to the cause until the potential of a few more £££ elsewhere turns our head. Also, he's 27 next month and could quite easily find himself 3rd choice CB and 2nd choice RB by then. I would also be keeping my options open. |
