I like saying it in my best Scottish accent, with a gap after Ken and a long drawn out Paaaaal. But not as much as I like watching him bring down a high ball, his touch and control are exceptional |

Down voted your previous post by accident, though I certainly didn't agree with it |

Top catastrophising, Kelsall. However, it'll be in the back of my mind the next time I hire a pedlo |

Yeah, I'm sure that £40m has a whole host of strings attached |

It may well be a landslide in terms of the number of seats they win, but probably not in terms of the percentage of the electorate who vote for them. So they will have a mandate to govern and won't, at the same time. Its not going to be easy. |

![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Nearest pub to where you live at 09:10 2 Jun 2024
I'm lucky, the small town I live in still has 9 pubs, you pay between £3 - £4 a pint. The closest is 5 minutes away, the beer garden (a patch of concrete, our pubs are pretty basic in the main) backs on to the tt course. The brewery closed it down a couple of years ago, but a same-sex couple leased it off them, have reopened it as a freehouse, the new decor is, shall we say, bright, but it was great to see it absolutely heaving yesterday, the first day of this year's racing. Power to them! I tend to walk to the Quay side, 10 minutes away if that, there's 4 pubs along it, on a nice day grab a pint, cross the road and sit in the sun by the boats. The Traf along there is my regular haunt, a camra finalist for pub of the year last year. |

OK, this may come across as playing to the crowd, but in my teens I was squatting, doing more and more drugs, squats getting dingier and dingier, but I got out of it....on an hourly basis....no I broke the cycle because I wanted to do something, and with the help of mates. And what I wanted to do is watch Rangers. I was also forced to work on the community programme, which at the time, for me, was the WORST THING EVER, but which led to me getting a proper job, a bedsit, away games and a season ticket. A life lesson...you're not going to break the cycle unless you want to. My drugs and squatting mate died in his teens, RIP Dave. |

Well, Mone is big news over here, she, and all the others who ripped off tax payers to cash in on covid should be thrown in prison, as far as I'm concerned. We have a state run water company, and shit is still going directly into the sea. I heard an interesting interview with an American author who has written a book on the working class experience in America, and she found that in that class there wasn't a huge hatred of billionaires, as they were seen as job creators, among other reasons. I suppose, where I live, I not only see but also endure the behaviour of little shits who contribute nothing - twice in a week not long ago I went out and confronted people about what they are doing, I'm being avoided now but my van has a nice new scratch. But yeah, I would love to see a clamp down at both ends of the 'taking the piss' spectrum.. UBI would, in my opinion, take a big step in making work profitable again. My wife is a care worker - what they are paid compared to what they contribute is a disgrace. UBI would also enable people to take a bit of time out to train up or re-train. My wife recently tried to gain access to a beginners course in computers. She was told she couldn't, because she wasn't unemployed. She fought that, and gained access. Two other people were on the course. Wtaf. Anyway, I should probably stay clear of this thread now as well! Announce Jordan Rhodes.... |

Did I say that? There has never been a time I would vote for that party - possibly, I suppose, a candidate who I thought was good, but that's doubtful. |

Mate, if you know how to play the system, there are work-arounds. |
