We had this discussion the other day Dirk didnt we . Im not going over all this again its quite simple really. I do not claim league 1 or 2 titles or even championship as major titles whereas you obviously do. for me its Fa cup ,Premier league which are the major trophies and as i correctly pointed out apart from the usual big clubs only Wigan, Leicester twice and skates have won a MAJOR trophy in the last 20 years. |

Mate we spent a lot longer in the top flight than all those clubs you mentioned and finished top 8 four years running so we have done it , we just need to regroup next season, get new owners in that won’t be easy ffs and press the reset button. I agree sports republic are the problem but we could be lumbered with them . |

I think we’ve all been a bit spoilt having been in the top league for most of my life. I know we’ve won Fack all but who has apart from the usual six ? There are fans of many bigger clubs in England who would have loved to of had our standing over the last 50 years. Massive clubs like Sheffield Wednesday and look at Leeds and Forest who spent many years in the championship, all bigger clubs than us. It hasn’t done them any harm . I said last season it’s only worth being in the premier league if you want to compete, we clearly don’t have the funds so let’s get out of it until we can. We’ve never had any owners that want to take the club anywhere (Liebherr excepted )that’s what frustrates the hell out of me ! our owners don’t want to be like Brighton or Bournemouth they just want to plod along and exist. I guess one day we’ll get lucky. I’m just glad I saw them win the FA cup and saw them finish runners up in 84 , I feel for those that will probably never see us win anything. Man’s game mate 😏 I played it at school and represented school team. I’d rather watch fu@@kin bowls than that shower of Shyte. We’re all different, it’s what makes the world an interesting place 😃. See you Hull away next season. |

Yes spot on. I didn’t go to the last two games. It totally depresses me I really get upset about us getting anilhated every week. The players don’t care nor are good enough we haven’t had a good striker for years and no one seems bothered . Many other teams fans would have protested but we don’t we’re too timid down here we don’t like to make a fuss. I’m too old to get involved in protests but I did protest in the day against Branfoot, but the youngsters don’t give a Shyte they haven’t got it in them. I’ve been a season ticket holder for more than 50 years and I don’t care if people don’t like me not going. I shall be watching saints in the championship every game next season and most aways and I’m looking forward to it. F@ck the premier league and all it stands for, its outgrown us. You can’t compete in it if you just want to exist. You have to buy good players and compete. If the premier league has become too big for us so be it. At least the feel good factor will hopefully be back next year, we need a total rebuild first though. I chose to watch the rugby today and it was far more entertaining and I really enjoyed it. I couldn’t sell my ticket because nobody wanted it and can you blame them ? The owners of saints don’t care less about me or the fans so why should I care ? [Post edited 22 Feb 22:51]

Yep completely agree. I too sit in the Itchen and the noise from the saints fans from the Northam is louder than it’s ever been . I also don’t get the problem with the Alez alez song. That song can be heard by many fans from different teams and the fact is most football songs are sung by fans all over the country but they put their own version on it and football songs have been like that for as long as I can remember. We just need more songs. Some fans get together and work on it or post songs online . Man Utd have an array of songs and their away support has always been good . Yet again it boils down to how much you want it . |

You could look at it another way. I myself and my brother and one or two others tend to leave when we’re getting hammered but it really hurts and I/ we don’t want to see it , it affects your mood and can ruin your weekend . You could say that those that stay when we’re getting annihilated don’t really care that much about the result . Just a thought. |

I agree Sulemana has been given a lot of stick by many over his saints career, I have been one of them to give him stick . It’s obvious from his recent appearances that there’s a talent in there . [Post edited 13 Feb 3:31]

Yep, as I predicted on here after the pre season games where he stood out a mile and in particular the Millwall friendly, Dibling was outstanding and I said then that he reminded me of Le Tiss . He will be playing for a big club soon without a doubt. However he showed yesterday he probably can’t be arsed with playing in the worst Southampton team I’ve seen since 1971. |

I doubt it he’s off to Goztepe . |

I think Sulemana has the potential to be a good premier league player whereas Armstrong will never be a premier league player that is the difference . Let’s see what Juric can get out of him so far it’s looking good. Some players just work better with different managers . Sulemana and Onachu were never going to adapt to RM style of play. Sulemana likes to take people on and wasn’t encouraged to do that before. Onachu likes crosses coming not playing tippy tappy Shyte. I like Armstrong and appreciate what he’s done for us but he’s no prem player. MOTD were raving about Sulemana at Ipswich, sometimes you can get a less biased view from what neutrals have to say. |

Everyone of us has their own favourites, mine is from 1971 players that I’ve watched live and have given me the most pleasure( not necessarily legends, although imo they are all legends apart from Ekelund ) are Matt Le Tissier Mick Channon Terry Paine Ron Davies Mark Wright Rickie Lambert Ronnie Ekelund Mark Dennis Steve Williams Kevin Keegan [Post edited 5 Feb 14:15]
