It could be argued that with the hand on teh back of his head he was trying to shake this off and not moving his head to butt Kompany. I know if anyone puts their hand on teh back of my head I'd want to move away from it as I don't know why it's there.

By the FA's laughable interpretation of the game both Tevez and Lescott 'raised their hands' and could have gone.
I think they'll look to make an example of him especially after the Johnson incident, another one they got laughably wrong.

1 match for Kompany incident, maybe zero as a) he never touched him b) It looked like his head was pushed towards Kompany by Lescott. I've put 1 match as a possibility as the FA seem to go for "intent" even though he never touched him just like against Norwich.
So, that's a 7/8 game ban and a big fine. Which will be covered by his relegation survival bonus which I think was around £250k
Then there's the internal discipline to follow.

The Kompany and Aguario incident cannot be separated. There is no precedent for a brawl and a separate ban count for each person someone tried to hit. IMHO it will be a 4+4 8 game. Anymore would get turned over in the court of arbitration. |  | | |

Looking back at Ivanovic from a few weeks ago, he only got 3 matches for violent conduct despite it being his 2nd red of the season so with Barton already accepting 7 games, it's up to whether the FA want to bump it up to 10. | | | |

Can I ask one simple question does anybody think Tevez should have recieve any punishment. It seems his part in all this has been conveniently ignored, maybe Barton deserves all he will get but the fact that nobody seems prepared to criticise the lineman for "not seeing" Tevez is a little odd. I wonder if it is the old "reputation" thing again. Barton should have gone down when hit by Tevez and accepted the yellow card he would have been given for diving. | | | |

I'll start by saying that I agree that Tevez should be punished as well, it was quite clear from the cameras that Tevez punched barton on the head all be it a wimpy looking punch.
Now thats out of the way I will put forward my opinion on why Tevez wasn't caught and why Barton is an idiot. Basically Barton was tight on Tevez who had dropped deep and wide and was running into a more forward and central position in anticipation of a ball into the box. While running Tevez punches Barton, Barton stays on his feet and follows his man. This is good because if he had gone down there's no gaurentee the game will have stopped and Tevez would have been unmarked. So barton chases him back onto the defensive line the elbows him. The main difference and reason this is picked up is because the linesman's job is to look across the defensive line to check players are on/offside. This is where Barton is stupid, if he wanted to give Tevez a bit back do it behind the refs back and not directly in line with where the ref is looking. So unfortunatly I think it has little to do with reputation or bias and a lot to do with Barton being an idiot. |  | | |

I honestly don't believe the linesman saw much of anything - he was on the other side of the pitch and there were at least 4 or 5 players strung along the box between him and Tevez/Barton. Even the elbow was on the other side of Barton's body from the linesman.
I reckon he saw a coming together of the players, Tevez dropping and playacting, saw it was Barton and drew the obvious (and in this case correct) conclusion. | | | |

I dont get people saying he should get more because of balotelli. Balotelli ran onto the pitch and was the agressor IMO. he certainly wasn't sitting minding his own business. he had no business on the pitch as he was an unused sub at that point. I'm sure his language towards barton was as far from "hard luck mate" as you can imagine.
I still thing the head butt at Kompany is deliberate and expect 4 + 3 or 4 + 3 or 4. So 10-12 is my estimate. |  |

Looking at the video, it wasn't a head butt, but barton shouldn't have been in that situation.

Read my full reply. Firstly I agree with you about Tevez so I don't understand why your complaining to me about the FA not taking action, as I'm as confused as you are.

Edit-That should read lino not ref but you get the point.
That in essence is why Bartons a bloody idiot. While I do praise him for staying on his feet and marking Tevez that all becomes irrelivant once he decides to get sent off and give away a free kick on the edge of the area. If his intention was to retaliate he should have done it imediately, further away from goal, out of sight of the ref/lino and forcing anyone who did see it to acknowledge the part Tevez played in it. I honestly couldn’t give a fcuk what he gets as long as he's not getting paid the 4 - 500k he would be "earning" during his ban.
Hopefully he'll be off the books by then anyway. The club must be in a position to show him the door, i certainly would be if i did what he did at my place of work.
Yes he put in a few decent performances toward to end of the season but he's an embarrassment generally & not the sort of player i want representing my club.....let alone captaining it.
Barton can fcuk right off IMO
