where and why has it gone wrong? 19:01 - Feb 15 with 1589 viewsvetchonian

Why is it the miserly defence we had earlier in the season is now leaking goals?

What has changed to make us look more like relegation candidates than a side who were just lacking goals to be play off candidates?

That would be the people who employed Luke Williams.

We have a one dimensional coach who is unable nor won't change things when they clearly aren't working. The fans have lost confidence as seems the players have, the passion and belief has gone. We are just waiting for Coleman to wake up and see it the same. We are in trouble.

But hasn't he changed things since Grimes has gone?
Ronaldo as wing back and a slight change in formation ?

And it doesn't work. Ronald at wing back, he's no defender and theirfirst 2 goals today came from down Ronalds side.

We need a 4 man defence and 2 up front, Cullen and Bianchini or Vipotnik.

I'm just a fam but I'f go 4132, Franco holding, Eom, Cullen and Ronald as attacking midfielders with Vip AND Bianchini up front. A defence of cabango, Darling, Key and Tymon.

But what do I know, it'd probably fail if only because the players confidence is completely shot.

Wiliams wanted out to WBA. Now he just wants the payoff.

The squad is obviously capable of a reasonable mid table finish. The coach isn't, and the players know it. We have to get rid of him.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It all changed since his idiotic WBA comment.

We were doing well, in 8th.

The players have lost respect for him and its obvious they don't want to play for him and he obvious doesn't give a sh!t anymore.

Get rid asap as we will go down, the longer they leave it the harder it will be to get out of the sh!t he has dropped us into.

He's changed formation and moved players about, but as a coach/manager is unable to set a game plan so it works. Players have gone backwards in ability not on in the way we play. Every day he's here is damaging

The Darling situation he as dragged on. He and Grimes were the club,'s best leaders and both wanted out.

Coleman should have sold them both. Darling no longer will be so willing to get hurt as he becomes a free agent in a few months.

where did it go wrong?

Go back to April 2018 where the previous owners did a major interview with the FT. It was all about the "next level".

The headline of the article was "The Premier League Gamble"

5 weeks later we were relegated.

Ronald has been surprisingly good at fullback he gets a foot in, gets closer to wingers not allowing them the acres of space, hasn't struggled under the high ball as much as others in the fullback position, he does get caught by wingers skilled footwork being a bit naive but we have struggled to stifle attacks on the wings almost all season both Key and Tymon have given opposition wingers time and space similar to last season and beyond to Martin's reign playing 5 at the back that still hasn't changed.

Would we be better off if Key played in front of Ronald similar to Coopers reign with four at the back as he has a slightly better ball control when running at players similar to Parker and are both quicker off the mark.

The goals yesterday came from set plays, one a very rash challenge by Cabango at one of the few times the winger got passed Ronald not through foot work, he got outnumbered maybe he did try chasing the ball a bit but the cover wasn't close enough hence the rash challenge, the second goal was the result of Francos intial mistimed challenge out wide being beaten by the winger, Ronald got back to cover and it was debatable about who gave the freekick away Franco chasing back making a challenge from the wrong side or Ronald tracking back trying sensibly to get between the winger and the ball?
Either way both set pieces badly defended as have number of our set plays in defence and similaly in attack have been executed. Maybe through lack of height in defences and attack.

The selection up front was a bit stupid, Ollie Cooper selected for his work rates and sensible ability to cover, Eom for his work rate and movement off the ball and Cullenfor a possible goal threat and workrate but neither of those three are going to threaten in the air and yet we persist in high crosses looked much better with whipped in low crosses.

The midfield duo picks its self Franco and O'Brien and in both the Stoke and Sheffield Wed games we kepted it tight in defence in the first half and early into the second half although not setting the world on fire we had a point in our grasp in both games against Sheff Wed our substitutions didn't work and against Stoke theirs did but both substitutions were made around the 60min mark, In both case we left ourselves exposed defensively surely if substitutions are made you make sure you get into a good defensive shape to see how the substitutions affects the game instead of giving no regard to how substitutions affect our defensive shape and the opposition attacking shape.

At the moment I would go for 4-4-2 in attacking mode and 4-5-1 in defensive mode.

Ronald, Cabango, Darling and Delcroix(at left back) which gives us some height in the team.
Key, Franco, O'Brien, Tymon in the midfield both wide players tucking in and defending as necessary attacking again as necessary.
As for the top two someone who can compete aerially, has pace, defend in the midfield when needed and can score goals, none of Vipotnik, Eom, Cooper, Bianchini Pearl-Harris or Cullen possess all of those qualities so perm and two from six to find the right combinations. Ginnelly?

As we have had a number of changes since the transfer window, new players in, injured players coming back, a player banned we cannot go chasing games, losing points in the bag especially trying to go all out attack leaving ourselves exposed when we are ahead in games. Bad game management.

Coleman and Williams have done nothing to sort out the glaring areas we had and have still got in the squad.

And after reading today's article it doesn't look like those in charge could run a bath let alone a football club, we are a complete and utter amateurish shambles in all the areas of the club.
