Cifuentes gone? on 11:11 - Nov 26 by GaryHaddock | Who remembers when Fitz Hall inexplicably scored two goals v Barnsley so they let him take a penalty for the hat trick which he missed? |
But we won that game, 4-2 or 4-1.

Celar does not have the attributes at the moment to perform this role, would personally like to see Alfie Lloyd be given a go from the start and see if he can do this role, looks a lot stronger than Celar in my opinion.

The Warnock season we also started the season against Barnsley and won 4-0, easy to get the two mixed up!

Cifuentes gone? on 12:23 - Nov 26 by Stainrod | A crucial difference tho: Curaton - from memory - cost £50,000, Celar was rumoured (stand to be corrected) to have cost about £2m. We must have paid that believing we had bought a proven, ready made, high scoring striker. |
Yeah, that's a fair point. I suppose I just think that it wasn't, on paper, a really stupid signing, or stupid money. Given that the goalkeeper and strikers were the obvious weakness in last season's side (plus probable loss of Chair) I can see why signing Nardi, Dembele, and pushing the boat out a bit (by our standards anyway) for Celar made sense. I feel part of the problem with Nourry is that these decisions do make sense in theory but if that was all its takes we all could do it. And we'd all probably have the same sort of ratio of hits (Nardi, Dembele, Saito) misses (Celar, Madsen,) and maybes (Varane?) I don't think it's unreasonable for fans to expect a bit better than that from Nourry, or for us to expect Celar, for that money, to be an upgrade on Dykes.

Nardi Dembele Varane Morrison Are all good buys. Saito is a good loan. Ashby is not a great loan really. Celar, Santos and Madsen are bad buys for the money we paid. But maybe they will improve as Frey did. Loaning out Larkeche was stupid with no cover; thinking Fox could cover was stupid as he gets injured every season. That's why we bought Varane, as he's to replace Colback next season and because he also gets injured a lot. Fox and Colback will be let go at the end of the season as they cost too much and never 3/4 of a season. More worryingly is that Paal and Dunne will be off soon, could even be in Jan when we try and get something for them. Unless they have signed 7 year contracts and we have not been told again! Morrison getting injured was unlucky as of course we know JCS always gets injured. Chair being out twice is also unlucky. Not replacing Armstrong was stupid as well. There has been quite a few mistakes this season. And some big chances taken which have been caught out. Marti just needs to hold it together and a couple of wins by Jan and then we can see how we fix those stupid mistakes ... hopefully. If, we don't we are down as Marti cannot work miracles twice!

When we signed him , I saw a video montage of his goals and thought , nice this lad knows where the back of the net is. Les hope that he can get one and a bit of confidence, which does look shot to pieces. What else needs to be remembered is, and I'm not making excuses but his service has been shite. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

So the bloke that signed Santos and brought Ashby in (Instead of Hayden) and the guy that spent all summer trying to offload the first-choice left back and loaned the only other left back in the squad. This is the bloke we trust to sign at least 2 new fullbacks (Right and Left) to replace Dunne and Paal. That fills me with dread. "Andy, fire up the Amiga"

Cifuentes gone? on 08:54 - Nov 28 with 2015 views | hubble | So, despite the immense pressure and the rising tide of discontent from some sections of the Rangers fan base, Marti persists with Celar, backs him to score after that penalty miss, and is rewarded with last night's performance from him. That's how you handle it when the cupboard is bare. That's top management, right there.

Why we'd be absolutely barking to get rid of this manager who is bloody very good.

I'm more than happy to give him credit and agree with the sentiment but surely the one and only reason he's persisted with Celar is there is absolutely no other option.

Indeed, Pad, but the point is not that he had to persist with him, it's how he handled it.

would have been interesting to see what he did if Lloyd didn't get injured, he clearly knew Celar was playing when he backed him in the pre match thing and knew he was the only option

This fella who has come in to replace Cifuentes is absolute mustard by the way. Players properly playing for him, giving it their all. Has us organised, drilled and disciplined. What a decision.
