Three Trust members who reside in the ward, plus Murray Knight and George Delves representing RAFC were in attendance.
Two of the three local councillors were there. Nobody ever sees Amber Nisa. The Loch Ness Monster is observed more.
It was pointed out that a similar application in years gone by was knocked back by the council. Times change said one of the councillors. Spare you the details but that claim was dismissed. FFS we are two divisions lower than in 2016 when that proposal was knocked back. They were defending the fact it is "only" a "consultation" and that they had to listen to residents views. Understandable.
It was pointed out how thin the survey leaflet that had been posted within the proposed restriction area and to some houses beyond was on detail, and the limited options contained within it that could mislead residents.
George Delves spoke. Guess who HASN'T been involved or consulted in this exercise? They haven't consulted Rochdale AFC!! One councillor expressed surprise and assumed the club had been consulted, but they have not. George said they would be happy to be involved in a consultation. We'll see what happens there.
Residents (Trust members and not) pointed out the anomalies and contradictions within the wooly proposal. Again, the councillors hid behind the "let's see the results of the consultation first" curtain.
Interesting to hear the Chair of the meeting very much in agreement about how such a scheme can inconvenience families and friends as the proposed restrictions mean you have to park further and further away, not just for football, but for important family reasons.
Another resident pointed out how the scheme as it stands discriminates against non-car owners who would have to pay to have family visit them.
Let them have the result of their unaccountable and undemocratic "consultation" that they will claim represents "resident's views".
When it gets to the "legal process", numerous residents and interested parties throughout the town will be able to really have their say on this issue. Needs a keen eye to keep watch on Council activities, meetings and proposals. Dale fans are hawk-like at that.

Vigilance is needed here. A residential area adjacent to Hollingworth lake was over whelmed on nice days by visitors parking in the area. Residents applied for the area to become 'Resident Parking Permits only'. RMBC wanted to reject this. At the beginning they considered that those who did not vote were to be counted as 'No' votes. In the case of this latest proposal, should RMBC wish to introduce parking permits, they may decide to consider non-responders votes as 'Yes.' |  | | |

Probably none. I have seen this sort of problem near a cricket ground in Chadderton where a new family moved into a house that was within a decent stike over cow corner. They refused to hand over balls that landed in their garden. Eventually the club put up a huge net to stop balls flying over the fence.... and then they comlained that their vieW had been spoiled! Then they complained about players parking outside their house. FFS!
Funnily enough I also remember Peter Green bowling for Walsden and getting hit straight back over his head .. and straight through his own bedroom window.....Cant remember who hit it, might have been Alan Barrett for Rochdale. | | | |

RESIDENTS next to a controversial football ground have claimed fans ruin their lives on nightmare matchdays.
Neighbours of Rochdale AFC's Crown Oil Arena have said it is "madness" that there are no parking restrictions in the streets surrounding the ground.

They say fans of the Greater Manchester club park across their driveways, block their cars in and take up all the spaces, leaving them in the lurch.
Ken Harris, 71, told The Sun Online: "It can be a nightmare on matchday.
"It's not a small stadium and you can't park outside most grounds in the country.
"Something needs to be done."
Rochdale Borough Council are currently considering bringing in parking restrictions amid complaints, which Ken said he is "glad" about.
Fellow local Sharon Atkison, 33, added: "It's chaos...The streets can be gridlocked as the fans park anywhere.
"I'm sick of it."
The stadium is regularly attended by 3,000 fans for home games as they cheer on their boys in blue.

Flyers have now been sent out by the council asking whether residents' permits should be required on matchday, all the time or not at all.
However, not everyone is fully supportive.
Lifelong 'Dale fan Nick Abbott, 43, fumed: "Councils should be supporting clubs not trying to drive away fans.
"We're a small club. It's not as if we're Man United down the road with more than 70,000 fans turning up.
"We have just a few thousand. The council should just back off and leave well alone."
Colin Cavanaugh, chair of the Dale Trust fan group, said: "We have already had elderly members report back to us that they will be unable to attend matches should these restrictions be brought in and they are forced to park further away."
The club declined to comment.
Councillor Shah Wazir, the cabinet member for highways at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “We launched this consultation in the Spotland area after concerns were raised by local residents and ward councillors about inconsiderate parking.
“At this stage, we’re gauging the opinion of both residents and local stakeholders, and the response to this consultation will inform any next steps."
It comes after another group of residents near a major stadium said that the redevelopment of the ground will make their lives hell. | | | |

Last season 16 out of 52 Saturdays hosted football.
7 out of 52 Tuesdays hosted football.
There was also a match played on a Monday and one on a Friday.
25 days out of 365 there was "inconvenience" for a few hours, from a venue that has been there for 117 years and is hardly invisible.
Perhaps the complainants, if they are real, should practice what they preach. Don't inconvenience those who live where you want to go. If they are shopping, worshipping, visiting family and friends, attending a meeting, going to work or picking up an elderly relative etc etc etc, park 400 meters away from where you would like to be and walk to and from your car to attend to what you want to do. Even if elderly or infirm, because that is what you are asking a lot of other people to do isn't it? | | | |
