Yes i learnt this from the BBC as well.
I also learnt poor desperate migrants were trying to get into the uk every day by hanging on lorries from France. That was just before the Referendum on EU membership in 2016.
I also learnt that wales was a Principality. Although its not.
And i learned that a bloke called Nigel Farage gets air time on Question Time every week even though he is not an MP and his party had no MPs. Strange dont you think ?

Herr Farage appeared 35 times. He has the most appearances per year, at 1.8, between 2000 and 2019. Nobody else has a higher appearances per year number.
Next are 1.6 with 3 people representing Labour, Tory, and Libdems.
Now why does Herr Farage have such a high profile...? I mean he failed to be elected as an MP 7 times !! Why would such a serial loser get such a high profile from the BBC ? The man is a fascist.

At various times the BBC has been accused of being left wing, right wing and everywhere in between. Maybe that shows it's actually not biased, maybe it just has poor journalists who can't present a story without spinning it to their political favour?
The Beeb is vastly more impartial than most mainstream media.
I think it depends on the programme. It can be biased in all different ways at the same time as there are so many different programmes with different teams behind them. So Farage gets disproportionately platformed to feck on QT and there are right wing activists plants in the audience (they’ve a politically active audience fixer), yet on the next day you could have Emily Maitlis opening Newsnight with a full frontal attack on the government.
I think your incompetence angle is true in some cases, but not many. A major weakness though is putting commentators up against professionals ‘for balance’. So you end up with the likes of Tom Harwood being put up against politicians and presented as a serious journalist, which is obviously bollox. I’m sure there are cases when it’s true on ‘the other side’ too.
You’re spot on about it being more impartial than a lot (maybe offering a broader range of views than most would be a slightly clearer way of putting it). And that’s the problem for the anti-BBCers. They all come from this new populist/authoritarian-supporting sect like the OP. They don’t want anyone to present different views (this is why we've talk of the backers of the right wing side of the Tories setting up a channel like Fox News). No. Very unexpected School did a good job of putting me off poetry for many years. John Donne , GM Hopkins and Ted Hughes did not feel very relevant in 1984 Rhondda. Started to come round a bit when hearing ,not reading, Larkin . My mother took me to a charity fundraiser -great experience to hear poetry Read by the late Alan Bates. More open to it now.

UKIP won13 seats in 2009 and 24 seats in 2014 (out of UK’s 72). So 25% of the seats over the period of this graphic, yet they had 90% of the MEP QT appearances (94% including BP appearances, as this is really about Farage). And the other 6% were Daniel Hannah ffs. Hardly representative.
