Swansea City head coach Duff has three games : Maximum
Wednesday, 20th Sep 2023 17:08 by Keith Haynes

Michael Duff has had conversations with the top brass at Swansea City and is intimating he believes he only has Saturdays game, and if he’s lucky two more after that to bring about an upturn in the Swans fortunes.

Having spoken to Chairman Andrew Coleman before last nights encounter we also understand that when he returns to the club in the morning further dialogue will be held with Coleman. The issues now for the supporters are as much about Duff’s verbal reasoning in public as it is the extremely poor on the pitch performances.

The response he received at the end of last nights draw against QPR wasn’t at all firemdky with the vast majority of the travelling support vocally making their feelings known. In response to that Duff stated, “My job’s not to win the fans over. My job’s to win games. If they’ve made their mind up, they’ve made their mind up” That seemed a pretty I’ll informed reaction that is added to a list of Michael Duff quotes over the first seven games of the season.

From the stands it’s not looking good for Duff

The head coach stating his job is to ‘win games’ would be fine had he won any as Swansea City head coach, but he hasn’t. Explanations of stats (XG) have baffled some fans as well. “We are fifth in the league for XG against, that’s the foundation, and from there we can start working on being better with the ball,” That seems an odd statement as well. If anything Swansea City are pass masters when it comes to management of a game through possession of the ball.

It seems now that Duff has been given assurances as to his immediate future, however it really cannot be something that is allowed to continue. QPR have been by far the worst side the Swans have faced this season and they were very much there for the taking last night. The head coach stating his side worked hard for the point indicates to us he is clutching at straws today with regards his immediate future at the club.

Sheffield Wednesday are up next at the Swansea.Com Stadium this Saturday afternoon ( KO 3pm ) and a bad defeat to their fellow relegation strugglers could mean a journey too far. It really is getting to a critical stage.

That's if the Swans wins on Saturday, if no he'll be gone immediately in my opinion!
