Take the A47 to Leicester and head for the M1. Then North to Junction 25. Take the A52 Brian Clough way towards Derby and you will see signs for the ground on your left before you get to the city centre. Parking: You can die of old age waiting to get out of the parking areas around the ground, and there aren’t that many either. A better place to park is the Cattle Market car park at the end of the A52 by the Pentagon Island. This is about 10 minutes from the ground. You can park near the Navigation Pub on London Rd if you follow the parking signs but again, don’t plan to get away quickly. Drinking: There are a few pubs very close to the ground but if you come by train, the locale around the station is fairly inviting. The Crown and Cushion at the junction of London Rd always seems to be full of away supporters. The Brunswick is a must for any real ale fans and the Alexandra next door is my personal favourite. Fans tend to mingle in these pubs and as long as you’re not being aggressive, the atmosphere is good. The Waterfall opposite the station is okay as well if a little on the expensive side. If you are driving, the Navigation Pub on London Rd opposite the parking area is your best bet. Around the ground there's a Frankie & Bennie's, Harvester and the Pride Park but these tend to be very busy. Mick’s Prediction: The start of another season and once again we start at home against a newly promoted club. There was a high expectation last year given that we’d been promised the team would hit the floor running and Doncaster were perceived as poor opposition. We lost that game 1-0 and it set the pattern for the season. Peterborough are an ambitious side and managed by a Darren Ferguson – who certainly seems to be a chip off the old block – nobody can take anything for granted in this game. The summer hasn’t seen a lot of big name arrivals and we seem to be starting the season with arguably a weaker team than we finished the last season. We also seem to have come through pre-season with an injury crisis. Reports from the Pre-season suggest Clough has the team playing attractive passing football with a high emphasis on team spirit. Reports from the camp suggest that while the team does not expect to set the league on fire, they are expecting to compete and do better than last season. Talk is one thing, action is another and a full house tomorrow will give its verdict on Nigel Clough’s team. Surely we can’t be as under-prepared as we’ve been for the last two seasons? Probable Derby team: Bywater, Connolly, Buxton, Addison, McEveley, Pearson, Savage, Green, Teale, Croft, Davies Subs: Deeney, Barker, Commons, Varney, Mendy, Pringle, Moxey
