Previous Clubs: Bolton Wanderers, Celtic, Everton, Sunderland, Everton Paul Jewell brought in the much travelled Stubbs in an eighteen month deal on January 31st 2008 to add some experience and organisation to the Rams' wobbly defence. "It's a terrific capture for us. Stubbsy is a first class pro and someone who has been there, seen it and done it." said Jewell at the time.
Alan started his career at Bolton Wanderers, spending six years at Burnden Park. Known for his no nonsense defending, he caught the eye of Celtic and signed for them in May 1996. He won many medals with the Hoops, including the domestic treble on two occasions and making several appearances in the Champions League.
In 2001 he left Celtic Park to join his boyhood heroes, Everton and became a vital part of their defence. However, in 2005 he left to join Sunderland when the Toffees only offered him a one year deal.
His time at the Stadium of Light however, was punctuated by injury and he found it difficult to establish himself in the starting line up andn January 2006 he returned to Goodison Park.
The archetypal battler, Alan has twice recovered from testicular cancer.
