Gary Teale signed for the Rams for £600000 from Wigan Athletic on January 11th 2007, Billy Davies' 4th signing of the January transfer window.

Glaswegian Teale joined Clydebank as a trainee, where he played for two years until Ayr United paid £70000 for him in October 1998. He played over 100 games for the Honest Men scoring 18 goals.

In 2001, Wigan Athletic paid £200000 to take him to the JJB Stadium. In the five years he spent playing for the Latics, he made almost 200 appearances, scoring 10 goals. As can be seen from his stats, more of a provider than a scorer of goals.

A speedy right winger, Gary's performances were crucial in Wigan's promotion season and again in the 2005/6 season when they consolidated their position. He gained recognition for his performances with his first international cap in the 3-1 defeat to Switzerland on March 1st 2006.

After finding first team opportunities hard to come by, on Feb 19th 2008, Gary was allowed to join Plymouth Argyle on loan until the end of the 2007/8 season.
