A speedy, hard working forward, Craig joined the Rams from Hull City on January 9th, 2007 for a fee of approximately £750k, the second of Billy Davies' purchases during the January 2007 transfer window.

Craig began his career as a trainee at his hometown club, Birmingham City, for whom Michael Johnson also played at the time. Craig made four only appearances as substitute during his two years at St Andrews but had two successful loan spells at Bristol City and Colchester United, making a total of 44 appearances in all competitions and scoring seven goals.

In March 2004, Craig made the switch to Colchester permanent and spent the next year with them before Hull City picked him up for an undixclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £125,000. Craig became something of a fans' favourite at the KC Stadium because of his 100% attitude and his speedy and direct style of play.
